Rocket bunts?

So why do bunts come off the bat with the velocity of a well smashed hot corner grounder? I was hoping for some tweaks to the bunting but damn, didnt expect this...

Are you talking about online? For online there is code in the game to force that kind of bunt on a player attempting to drag bunt with that rating below a certain threshold. It's to combat the bunt cheese in online play, and it seems to be working so far. Devs talked about this pre-release.

However...I've also had a few sacrifice bunts with pitchers that looked like what you described - and they're automatic double plays. It's still rating based, but it seems like there's more of a chance for it to happen this year. It is still possible to make good sac bunts with pitchers, and good drag bunts with high bunt - rated hitters, though.

Re: Rocket bunts?

Seems to me sac bunts with pitchers experience the same thing... The only time I've had a good bunt with a pitcher was actually doing a drag bunt lol.

Re: Rocket bunts?

It happens offline also. I have the same issue. Bunts seem to shoot every time.

Franchise SIM is dead. Find your favorite iterations and play it forever. Card games are whats "now" and games will cater in that direction and forget realism.

Just have fun and play :)

It's definitely not "every time" for me. Granted, seeing one rocket bunt for a DP can turn you off to attempting more of them, but I've certainly seen both successes and failures.

Well my experience is limited so I'm not rushing to judgement. I've seen it in a few RTTS gameplay, and 1 spring training franchise game. The RTTS (me) bunted and I'm not a bunter, so I didn't think much of it. The franchise game, I believe it was Naquin or Lindor I had bunt. Glad to hear that they will have successful ones and it isn't a always thing. Thanks bcruise.

Re: Rocket bunts?

Here's Ervin Santana dropping down 2 sac bunts in a game. Just wanted to show that they're in there for the guys who really haven't seen one yet. I'm not sure if difficulty factors into this, but it was on Veteran (because DD). I've done the same in Franchise, as a primarily NL player.

Santana is 30 bunt rating, so it doesn't take much to have a successful one.

....Yes, I know he's still holding the bat (or rather, it warps back into his hand). That's a replay bug - it didn't happen in real time.
