Drop ball in front of catcher = Auto base advance for CPU?

Anyone having this happen to them multiple times during a game where the pitch drops in front of the catcher and the animation where they have to get up and get the ball in front of them and the runner on 2nd or 3rd gets an automatic advance like a wild pitch? The runner isn't even the fastest runner yet they get to the base safely every time. It's annoying.

Also the number of WP and passed balls is way too high.

Yeah, it's a pretty significant problem. IMO a bigger gameplay issue than the inflated home runs because slider adjustments cannot remedy this.

It's currently a big discussion in this thread. http://www.operationsports.com/forum...7-version.html

TBH I'm quite surprised from the lack of discussion on this outside that thread, and perhaps it needs to be addressed as a bug report?

Re: Drop ball in front of catcher = Auto base advance for CPU?

This isn't just a thing the CPU takes advantage of, FYI - there's more than enough time for the user to get that base too.

Although I think the real problem here is too many wild pitches. Nomo's CPU vs CPU testing is revealing this as one of the larger gameplay issues this year. We wouldn't have as much of an issue with the slower animations if balls weren't getting away from catchers as often as they are.

Unfortunately it's kind of a catch 22 - you can lower WP by turning up the consistency slider, but that hurts BB's which are already pretty good.

Re: Drop ball in front of catcher = Auto base advance for CPU?

I have ran into this several times in my RTTS career. Specifically one particular team with have multiple wild pitches and passed balls. And it happens every game and just about every at bat even when I am batting. I have made it to first multiple times even on strikeouts and managed to go all the way around the bases to score. The CPU also takes good advantage of this.

Wild pitches and passed balls do happen fairly frequently in the real world. So I definitely want them to happen in the MLB The Show game. But they are happening too much this year. They need to be toned down a little.

I lost a game last night due to this very issue..It seems that the CPU can track down a wild pitch and fire out the runner in no time..I rarely advance on a wild pitch because I rarely make it..Whereas if I throw a wild pitch the cpu takes every advantage..

This happens to me at least twice a game on average.
