So, working on a spreadsheet OS98, I've refreshed my understanding on Options.

One rule is that once a player has 5 years of service, he can choose to refuse to be assigned to the minors no matter how many Options he has left.

Is that rule in the game?

If it isn't, I'll just set those guys' options to 0.

In the show, no. There actually used to be a glitch where you could send high paid veterans down and when you brought them back up they would keep their rookie salary scale.

A couple years they zeroed the options for players on default roster for players with 5 or more YOS. Didn't help in future seasons.
