Re: Could someone give me a synopsis of the off season budget?

Somewhat related question: I'm in the waiver period in July. The list of players looks odd. Adam Jones, Brett Gardner, Mike Moustakas..etc..quite a few good players. I don't want to cheat the system but Moustakas would be a huge upgrade for me at 3B for the Braves. How do waivers work and why would all these guys end up on this list?

EDIT: I did my own bit of limited research. A lot more complicated than I thought.

This actually happens often in real life where teams will put big name players on trade waivers just to gauge the market interest. Rarely will a team just let one of these players be claimed outright off waivers. They will rescind the waiver and then try to negotiate a trade with the claiming team.

So..what is the risk for a team putting claim on a few of players? Would we have a chance to "get stuck" with anything or can the claim side bail at anytime, also?

Claim side cannot bail on a waiver claim. If you place a claim on a player, be sure that you're ok with him being added to your roster in the event the team that put him up doesn't revoke the waiver.

They always withdrawn. Its legacy. When the feature was originally added there was a bug where no player was pulled back and human could claim every and anyone and get them.

The bandaid was to pull back all claims by human. Never has been addressed since.
