Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
For those who feel that franchise mode is not getting the attention it deserves, here is a place to post those frustrations.
And go...I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Meh. As I've gotten older I don't really care too much. Do I want more depth yes. But doing 30 team control I make my own story lines. As long as the game plays great I'm good.
My plan is to wait it out for a few weeks to see how gameplay is. If no good I'll continue my franchise on 18 and get 19 when the price drops.
This was my first year completing a full season and carrying over my franchise. I haven't had this much fun playing a sports game since NCAA 10 dynasty with Kentucky! -

As just stated in the IGN Moments (47min) Video! Their (Design Philosophy) is based on research that tells them to create a faster version of Season mode! I wonder where they are getting all of this data from?Last edited by jada855; 03-06-2019, 03:34 PM.Proud member of the 0.04%Comment

Read the replies to this tweet from the MLB The Show account. If anyone thinks it’s only this forum that believes franchise mode is alive but in need of some new features and depth, you’ll see plenty in agreement. If Twitter is calling for a better franchise mode, there’s no doubting it’s still current and viable.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
I like the idea of the March to October mode. My problem is they state in the stream that the mode was birthed from the fact that they set out to make improvements to franchise and decided to put all of those "improvements" into a new mode. I guess my question is why?
If you added all these improvements to franchise and then decided to make a new mode featuring those "improvements" I am cool with that. But if you scrapped improvements to franchise completely just for the sake of having a new mode then I definitely have a problem with that.
I honestly think they tried to add these improvements to franchise but couldn't find a way to account for all of the variables in franchise to make it actually work. So they said screw it and just threw these new features into a new mode.
I know for a fact that had they just stopped trying to reinvent the wheel and did something like revamp the draft, scouting, or player training engine there would have been a lot of happy franchise people.Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
The lack of upgrades to franchise, really burns my bunions! I can't eat. I can't sleep. And I'm watching way too much Eskimo porn. I can only hope SDS will hear my cries for help, and make the pain go away.
Seriously though, it's a business. I understand it. Yet, I still prefer otherwise. It's a very good game. But, has the potential to be amazing. And, it was at one time. However, committing time and resources to franchise, doesn't really move the needle for SDS very much, in regards to sales. As an offline franchise guy, it's disappointing. I've come to learn that there are countless things in life, in which I have no control. This is just another.Last edited by Scrapps; 03-06-2019, 02:31 PM.Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
I am comparing this year's Twitch stream schedule to last year's to see SDS's level of focus on Franchise Mode...
And what I see is that last year's Franchise stream was just that - a deep-dive stream all about Franchise (even though, looking back on it, they really only had "Phases" to show off).
This year, we have a "March to October" stream, where "Franchise Mode Updates: contract extensions" is a bullet point, along with presentation/commentary.
Now maybe they will surprise everyone with some huge news about updates to Franchise Mode, but I doubt it. And with "March to October" being borne out of potential Franchise Mode enhancements, I gotta think contract extensions are it for updates to Franchise Mode in The Show 19.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 03-06-2019, 02:37 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Look I understand the want and desire for expansion, create a stadium, relocation, and things of that nature, but for me the first thing I want them to do is fix/tune/expand what they already have in the game.
The draft needs to be flushed out. Way to basic. Managers/Coaches need to have an impact on the game and be their own person instead of just a face in the dugout and part of the equation when it comes to players rising/falling attributes. Training needs to be flushed out as well, again too basic. All-star game selections need to be tuned/re-balanced. Player cards need to be expanded to include a tab that shows individual player awards and successes. Injuries need to be expanded upon so they have lingering effects.
So many "little" fixes would go a long way to the quality of life of this mode.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

It totally blew my mind, and seems so much more in-depth than what The Show offers, and even more than Madden and NHL have, which were the other recent sports games I am familiar with. And both those games do have relocation, Owner Modes, etc.
NBA's mode is not without flaws. But it did set the bar for offline Franchise for me. And The Show and other sports titles need some work to get closer to that bar, for sure.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 03-06-2019, 02:49 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Love the manager/coach shout. Add Morale to that list. They added something that gave players a bit of life but I need some way to interact with them, if a player is unhappy let me give him a pep talk, a bullpen/hitting session and make some kind of difference. I didn’t need a suite of brand new features, just improvements building on some of what we already have.
Morale is a great idea/concept, but again its too cut and dry and needs to be flushed out. The user has too little of control to try to help improve a player's morale.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
