We have been asking this for years.... same with expanded roster. (I think the carry over saves is a major problem as to why these 2 things can't be added.

Same with import player. we are all sick of starting our franchise to find our a player is missing from the roster and there is no way to import a player in.

I think it has come to the stage now where none of this is ever going to happened. focus is on all the small modes like March to October (which is just a cut down season mode) retro mode moments etc

Year after year we have wishlsits on here and it seems like we are talking to a brick wall.

I see the same ideas every year. and the same disappointment every year who knows if they even read our wishlists on here, they keep saying 'we heard your feedback and our research says' and we keep getting things like nobody wants to play 162 games so lets cut time with quick counts or moments in franchise and and now March to October.

so none of their 'findings' must come from OS. there must be billions of comments I don't read on social media.

This is a big concern of mine too. I'm definitely glad to hear about real life contracts, but I hope it doesn't break the ability to play multiple seasons.

From gaming standpoints, they not only know how often and long you game per session, but what other games you are playing.

And that's just the telemetry. They also run focus groups, where they bring in average gamers, from people with no experience, to those with a lot, and watch them pay and then interview them. This is separate from Gamechangers and Community Days guys, as those are for marketing, not improving the game.

I'm not sure why you doubt them.
On the game informer video they said they had fans coming in to play the game for research and feedback and they based their research on that , in reality i think it might be a mixture of both.

Atleast we get contract extensions and real contract values this year.

People have bought into this train of thought and have giving game companies the path to make this an absolute which is a shame. $60.00 dollars is the price of addmission to play this game, that is the base price, to say it deserves less is a slap in the face of the consumer. I cringe when consumers submit to corporations. I spend my dollars annually to play franchise mode, some do for diamond dynasty or RTTS.

It totally blew my mind, and seems so much more in-depth than what The Show offers, and even more than Madden and NHL have, which were the other recent sports games I am familiar with. And both those games do have relocation, Owner Modes, etc.

NBA's mode is not without flaws. But it did set the bar for offline Franchise for me. And The Show and other sports titles need some work to get closer to that bar, for sure.

I’m kinda going off topic here so I apologize. But if you think that’s impressive you should see the nba 2k19 MyCareer mode. It’s basically road to the show, but STUPID IN DEPTH. I just started it and it’s a blast. I wish SDS would get more in depth like people are saying

...The only fix that the Show HAS to have for me to purchase is the playoff roster glitch...
                  - you can't bring a player up from the minors to replace an injured player
(this especially sucks when you have an injured catcher and the other one is EXHAUSTED from playing every game of the playoffs...)

                  - you can't select your playoff roster the way that it is supposed to be done...
(there are just 25 players eligible; you can't bring up anyone else. Even if the player is on the 40 man roster all year or had been on the Major League roster BEFORE September 1st...)

Fix this issue, and my friends and I will buy the new game...

Yup, some people act like this is a free mobile game that you download for free and only pay for the extra stuff. Sadly, the companies that make them are starting to go down that road as well, while still charging full price (EA leading the charge)

People seem to forget that not that long ago the entire games industry used to sustain itself off of just the price of selling the game, it is not some insignificant sum. Many AAA titles (not owned by EA) still do and they aren't suffering for it

They have done virtually nothing but talk about offline modes. Moments is an offline mode, March to October is an offline mode, RTTS is an offline mode, and virtually everything they've talked about for DD so far has been regarding the offline aspects. Plus the franchise mode is this evening.

The Show does WAY better at building content for offline gamers than any other sports game out there.

You would never know it though. Every offline mode is getting raked across the coals.

I am one of the die hard franchise mode guys. Hell Josh and I frequently talk franchise on our streams of our franchises. I have several I have been playing since MLB 15 that are still going.

The Show is trying to draw in a younger generation of console sports gamers. Because if they don’t......offline sports gaming will eventually die.

I embrace new offline modes. Especially moments which can give younger baseball fans some awesome history on the game and March to October has the potential to attract new franchise mode players.

But without even playing the game yet we are being flooded with pure negativity.

How about instead of jumping to extreme conclusions we play the game, try out the modes and then give objective feedback.

The sheer amount of broad stroke assumptions is astounding.

I am praying for a few franchise mode reveals tonight like everyone else. I really hope presentation has been amped up too. That can go a long way to making the game feel fresher.

Real contracts to me can very well mean a completely reworked financial engine. That is exciting.

Let’s see what is in store for franchise heads tonight.

And if it is more of the same then many will be upset. For me.......improved gameplay and improved presentation holds a lot more weight for my immersive franchise experience. Everyone enjoys the game differently.

What I am seeing too much of is “the only way this game should be” type posting. This game will never be a text sim (OOTP). I have OOTP 19. Brilliant front office and manager mode game.

Totally different approach because well.....you are not actually playing, you are watching. If I were a MOM player OOTP is all I would ever play.

But I love to pitch and hit and let my player ratings dictate the fielding (I do make all the throws though). The Show is supreme when it comes to gameplay.

Anyway hopefully they added some more small improvements to franchise mode. I can’t sit here and ever expect an overhaul. IMO it is not needed. They just need to refine what is already there.

The only thing that really needs an overhaul IMO is the scouting and drafting and expanding the rosters to full single A ball. And again improve what is already there.....historical stats, full historical minor league stats.

The mode already does a lot of things right. But it needs attention and I agree it is not getting enough.

But the game still plays an incredible game of baseball. And that is why I keep coming back.

Armor and Josh, love your guys posts even I do not agree with all of them. It is great that they have created these offline modes, but let’s be real, many of them will feel gimmicky to that average OS “sim” player. And I would even question that OS is the vocal minority if you check your their twitter posts, which many around here like to claim.

I can appreciate the work they have done in RTTS, but that mode never appealed to me. Played in one year and got to bigs. Never had the desire to play it again. I will definitely play MtO, but do you really see this being played all year round? I can see most users giving it a play through and then moving on. A lot of people are saying that the mode was built to get people into franchise, a spring board if you will. Do you really see someone who enjoys MtO enjoying franchise? No, it is for two different players.

The issue is not that these modes were created. I think most, if not all, understand appealing to a greater audience. The issue is that basic things that lack in franchise (better draft, rotating schedules, all unis, contracts etc) are not hard fixes. They are not even close to what it takes to go into building a mode like MtO. Ramone himself in the game informer video said that this was built as a franchise feature that they ended realizing was a new mode. This is where the frustration level is for most people. Franchise has been a footnote for many years.

I do agree that other should try other modes, but I can also understand why people would give it a play and move on.

I know some people have gotten annoyed with me on here but you hit on some of my biggest issues here. The negativity floods every thread about every mode not named franchise.

I can deal with the negativity. I understand disappointment. What gets me going is when they criticize the other modes and insult the fans of that mode in the process. I have seen just some of these gems leveled at those who play DD and RTTS
                            • Not true baseball fans
                            • That the modes are for those with ADD
                            • That they are geared towards young teens
                            • That they are modes for the Fortnite crowd
                            • That they are for the streamers

I am 54 years old and fall into none of those categories and RTTS and DD have been my favorite modes. So yes, it is insulting when you are grouped into those broad descriptions of fans who like those modes.

On the plus side, it makes me feel younger that there are those shouting at the kids to get off their lawn and I am apparently one of those kids.

It's a game. It is meant to be fun and fun is a subjective thing. There is no right way or wrong way to play the game if you are having fun (at least in the offline modes).

And to stay on topic, I hope that they give the franchise fans some things to look forward to in tonight's stream.

I suspect neither Armor or Dolenz were talking about my posts, but I feel compelled to answer still.

I HAVE to complain about the lack of attention franchise is getting, for this reason:

I will never deny the amount of passion and effort that the guys put into this game year after year, and this year is no exception. However, as a consumer, it is entirely fair for me to consider one and only one thing. What does the game have for me? This year all I see is a sidegrade, a game with both pluses and minuses, and that doesn't motivate me to purchase. SDS needs to know that they are not only potentially losing a consumer, but why. Obviously it's too late to change things this cycle, but the earlier they know the better chance they have of changing something in the next cycle.

My wheel is never going to get any oil if I don't squeak.

Warmwind. I agree. It is about what the game offers you and if it is same old same old I can completely understand skipping a year. The main thing that is drawing me into 19 is the gameplay improvements. I was set to stick with 18 thinking not much is changing with gameplay and franchise.

I really loved what I saw on that first gameplay stream.

I also think we will get some meaningful under the hood improvements again for franchise mode and I also feel like presentation will be improved as well which again for me helps me get more immersed in my franchise.
