Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
MLB the Show needs improvements to player creation that MVP 2005 had on the puny systems two generations ago.
1. Individual pitch ratings for pitches
2. A swing aggression slider. Plate vision and plate discipline doesn't cover it IN GAME. Guys with high vision and low discipline (guys with a lot of hits, few walks and fewer strikeouts who are simply looking for a pitch to hit - Think Tony Gwynn) swing far too often at pitches outside the strike zone.
3. Energy slider separate from the durability slider. That was a guy can be limited to 120 games without being on the DL.
4. Hitter ratings vs certain pitches. On MVP 2005, I could edit guys like Ryan Howard to hit like Pedro from Major League the movie - fastballs are destroyed but curveballs are difficult to hit. I had a season where Ryan Howard sim hit .300 with 50+ HR's and 150+ RBI's - with ~200 strikeouts and 100+ walks.
I'd put this in its own thread but I'm unsure if it's worth it. The above changes would add so much depth to the both in game and in simulation.Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Once again, nobody is saying that they need a complete overhaul. There are fundamental things broken in the mode that should have been fixed years ago. Draft/ draft logic, rotational schedules, correct uniforms, contracts (we will see if this is actually going to work), advanced stats, historical stats.
Agree 100% with your post and what needs to be reworked/tuned and added.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Yup no purchase for me. Listen i don’t care for their excuses you are a GAME developers. Singling out a mode is unbelievably disrespectful. They couldn’t even change simple A.I things for the mode or fix the cash flow budget issues. How do you add a new mode when the BASE MODE has issues! I DONT remember people asking for this march to...Mode but I DO remember people asking for franchise changes. The LEAST they could do was fix A.I changes and budgets! Disgraceful tbh. No excuse for this. SDS really does not listen to their fan base, and the fact they added a new mode as an EXTENSION of a mode that has more issues then not is a horrible choice.Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
I dont understand all the negativity towards franchise mode on all of these threads. I have been playing the show since the very first one came out. I'm not sure what all you guys expect from franchise mode it already has everything in that a real gm or manager can do during a season. There is no reason for them to make a huge change to this mode. Now yes there definitely are some tweaks and things needed but in no way they need to do a complete overhaul. Franchise mode is the only mode I play in this game. I play every pitch of every inning and absoulouty love this game. For me presentation and gameplay is the only thing that matters.
With all of that said I haven't seen enough yet for me to buy 19 right away. I will buy 19 after I finish year 2 of my Braves franchise on 18. I'm at the end of July in year 2 and just want to finish that season instead of adjusting to 19 in the middle of my season that I'm so locked into. I will be watching my man Armor streams and seeing how long it takes him to get the sliders on lock before I make the move. But you never know he may change my mind. Lmao.

- International FA Bidding
- Spring Training Invites
- Rotating Schedules
- GM's and Coaches with actual tendencies
- Full minors
I'm sure there is plenty more that I'm missing.
And that doesn't even address the lack of life and flavor of the mode.PSN: Dalton1985

Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Such hyperbole BS
Yep we can’t make trades, sign players, do a rule 5 draft, call up or send down, scout, amateur draft, can’t do any of those things.
We got nothing folks. We have a bare bones franchise mode LMFAO.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
All of this plus,
- Draft logic
- Free agent signing logic improvements
- Trade logic improvements
- Custom draft classes (even if they don't want us to share it would be nice to create our own
- Draft stories - Something where if they keep the generic draft we could at least learn something about the players we are drafting.
- Options for a 6 or 4 man rotation
- Fixing the budgets
All of underdogs plus these and we didn't even touch the harder fan requests like expansion, relocation, etc. There is PLENTY they can do. Adding one thing isn't really enough to a lot of fans.
I am still buying because I do enjoy the game and do like this team. They have listened in the past but these last three years haven't been the best for Franchise.
I guess I was ready for this due to the small blurb when the Stream schedule was released. It is still pretty disappointing.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Why are organizations capped at 90 man rosters with limited minors again? Is it due to licensing issues with those teams? Dont remember the exact reason

Exactly. I would love a lot things listed here. But let’s not say it is bare boned.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
The late Bill Veeck who owned multiple MLB teams once said the key was to keep the fans sullen but not rebellious. It seems to me that is what SDS does with franchise mode. They give is just enough to keep us buying the game but always fall short of giving us the long list of things which need to be added or fixed.
Realistic contracts are an improvement - probably somewhere in the top 20 of things which need to be fixed. Biggest potential improvement is gameplay but I'll reserved judgement until I get the game because there have been times when they made gameplay worse.
I'll buy the game and I can't say I'm thrilled about the lack of attention to the only mode I play.≡Comment

Definitely want these three.
#1 would solve a lot of issues with pitching. Of course, pitches already have individual ratings, they just need to be displayed with some sort of effectiveness rating or do away with the singular Control/Velo/Movement and have a page with his actual pitch ratings.
#2 could be done with a quirk if they didn't want another rating.
-Patient Hitter - will take until 2 strikes more often than not, and more likely to take borderline strikes on 2-strikes instead of fight them off.
-Aggressive Swinger - attacks strikes in the zone frequently and early in the count, especially if they are away from the edges (imagine a medium-sized PCI centered on middle-middle, that's where he'd attack frequently).
How well they do depends on the rest of the ratings. With high contact and vision, Aggressive Swinger could be Tony Gwynn.... on the downside, he's a guy who swings and misses on three strikes in the zone with low Vision.
Combining that with Discipline would add a lot of nuance to strike zone approach to hitters (and how you want to pitch to them).
#3 could be simply using Stamina for non-pitchers. Durability = Injury rate. Stamina = Energy reduction rate.Last edited by KBLover; 03-08-2019, 01:33 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
I believe we'll see some of the additions we want but the slow burn and that last three years having little to none added to the mode has made folks forget how much is already there.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:
