In fairness most franchise improvements including rule 5, arbitration, trade finder, waivers and waiver trades, morale etc...were stated they were all year one concepts and would be fleshed out in stages.

The big franchise improvement year of where most of that was added was 10 years ago and there are still legacy bugs from there.

As some have said. I would be happy if some of the bugs were fixed and the features they added were fleshed out.

For me building a team is the most important part of the game and I also like to play. It's frustrating having to use the same workarounds for the past 10 years and still not see anything of substance added.

At the end of the day I think it is good to remember that this is a console video game. How the game plays with the controller in your hand and how it looks and is presented on the screen are always going to be the biggest priority. It is what brings in new players.

Showing a player hitting a walk off home run as their favorite team is going to draw far more interest than a bullet point about rotating interleague schedules.

I agree with you there definitely needs to be improvements to certain parts of the franchise but there are alot of people on this thread making it sound like this franchise mode is terrible. Imo franchise mode is for us old folks and I dont think Sds is looking for a old crowd so I do think they will continue to make small franchise updates but modes like MTO will be where they spend the most of there time. Kids these days are not sitting down and playing franchise mode. MTO looks pretty cool and its something I will try a few times but this old dog will be playing all 162.

All of that would be amazing and I wish that was all in the game especially Gm and Coaches with actual tendencies. But what game really has that.

What I just don't understand is how we are in 2019 and a game that is 14 years old, and from 2 console generations ago can allow you to have a full single A roster but this game can't (MVP 06). They even had a minor league license and had top 100 prospects in the game. And for those of you who say, it's EA they are a huge company just stop! Sony is a huge company and has tons of resources lol

Granted if Card based modes had existed back in '06 I guarantee MVP franchise mode wouldn't have been what it was. Let's call a spade a spade. SDS makes a great game of baseball, but I am done entertaining people who are trying to convince me they remotely care about franchise mode. They just don't,

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?

I’m going to preface this by saying I think the real contracts and contract extensions are great additions. I also think I need to say that I truly think franchise mode in the show isn’t bad at all and it’s not even close to as bad or neglected as some other games. NBA live did next to nothing, PES and FIFA did little, madden did draft classes which was great but in comparison real contracts and contract negotiations are comparable. That being said of course I’m disappointed and further more I’m a little worried about the longevity I’ll be getting out of this years title because as a franchise only type sports gamer it is getting a bit stale for me.

Here is my problem though. I guess I don’t see the correlation between March to October and what they are saying as to why franchise didn’t get touched. What about that mode are things they were thinking of applying to franchise that resulted in them fracturing that plan and making MTO its own mode? To me it’s seems like MTO is just a faster way to get through a 162 season. So was that what their goal was when looking to improve franchise? Because that doesn’t make sense to me.

If they were implementing better financials, player morale, managers mattering, better draft, literally anything that’s listed in this thread or the monumental wish lists for franchise if read, and decided that any of those things made better sense in a new mode and that’s what created March to October, I would understand. I just don’t see any of it. I see a faster way to play a franchise.

That’s fine and dandy to me. I honestly have no problem with that but I’m not aware of anyone’s wish list for franchise having the wish for franchise to be faster and dumbed down. Quite the opposite actually. Deeper and more robust. I don’t see any of that with MTO. So again where is the correlation or when did this epiphany happen when improvements to franchise were being looked at that birthed MTO?

If I’m being honest it seems like an excuse. I think they knew people would be pissed and they had to give them something because thankfully it is evident that they do care about the community. Or there’s also a pretty good chance I’m wrong and I just don’t see it. Haha Wouldn’t be the first time lol.

I could start naming the things MVP doesn't have that Show has but the fact of the matter is Show and MVP are completely different games so adding singleA is different for the show than it was for MVP

I think it's only excuse, they are a small studio. When u almost have no improvements in franshise mode. I hope that some elements from Rtts will be there. Like player character like Maverrick or Captain.

Don't want to deal with AA and AAA? Don't want to scout and draft? No problem. Set it to auto and just handle your big league club.

Hopefully for you season mode lovers they can add back that ability to choose the number of games you play in a season to franchise mode. And I think it will solve that itch for the old season mode.
Agreed, not sure if they have done that. But I would love to go back to playing 14 game seasons with my friends.

                          1. Individual pitch ratings for pitches
                          2. A swing aggression slider. Plate vision and plate discipline doesn't cover it IN GAME. Guys with high vision and low discipline (guys with a lot of hits, few walks and fewer strikeouts who are simply looking for a pitch to hit - Think Tony Gwynn) swing far too often at pitches outside the strike zone.
                          3. Energy slider separate from the durability slider. That was a guy can be limited to 120 games without being on the DL.
                          4. Hitter ratings vs certain pitches. On MVP 2005, I could edit guys like Ryan Howard to hit like Pedro from Major League the movie - fastballs are destroyed but curveballs are difficult to hit. I had a season where Ryan Howard sim hit .300 with 50+ HR's and 150+ RBI's - with ~200 strikeouts and 100+ walks.

I'd put this in its own thread but I'm unsure if it's worth it. The above changes would add so much depth to the both in game and in simulation.
Not sure about other modes but in manage mode there were no in game injuries in mlbts18. I sent in a bug notification. Given the lack of attention franchise I'm not confident they will fix it.

Has the Ohtani issue been approached yet? They showed the linuep screen for a game but they didn't scroll down far enough to see if you can actually have a pitcher bat in the DH spot

I wish ALL sports games allowed custom online leagues. The very best leagues I've played in have been 6-12 teams, with drafted or default rosters. No AI drifting, managing rosters, or playing games. All stats are meaningful because you are comparing them to your peers. Short seasons of round robin play is a blast.

The connected franchise stuff ruined online leagues. I thought they were a neat addition to the options, but to replace custom leagues was a shame. and that is industry wide in sports gaming now. Online leagues are all "connected" to full leagues.
