In mlbts18 after the final gameplay patch there was nothing massively broken with franchise but a lot of small things to be fixed.

One example - pitcher stamina always regresses -1 per year. This renders any starting pitcher in the June draft worthless unless he is mid 80's or higher stamina and A or B potential. Every year in the minors while his other attributes are progressing his stamina is decreasing.

There are a lot of small things like that which need to be cleaned up. Since the devs didn't mention it in the franchise stream I'm guessing they were ignored. That's not anything new which a lot of people want - things like relocation or create-a-team which already exists in DD. That's stuff already in the game which doesn't function properly.

This doesn’t sound broken. It sounds like a reasonable way to represent the clock minor leaguers face. At some point, a dude is probably going to be nothing more than bullpen depth if he can’t get up to speed in time.

This dev team is sorry...I like many of you love the game of baseball and buy every year knowing there won’t be any changes...the show dev team plays off of our love for the game because they can due to the lack of options available...I realize trying to replicate the game of baseball is difficult but there not even trying anymore...I like many others want a create a stadium option...as much as they seem to be care about making money off diamond dynasty so they not see the opportunity they have to make money off create a stadium...i for one would probably spend a good amount just to upgrade my stadium quickly...but I rest my case...they’re just sorry

I didn't mind that it came up without him at the plate (that actually feels natural, especially with a stud like he is, he'd be well-known/talked-about, etc.) but no name (Brito, it's said by the game as the game made him) and then just the same line and then repeated over and over.

That's what made me turn it off (and another on-the-field-based presentation that needs fixing).

Now, I actually like it. It's more like I'm on the field in the game instead of watching it. Sure there's the half-innings transitions but otherwise, it's just the pounding the mitt, crack of the bat, umps, crowd, etc.

So I guess, thank you bad commentary line

Though, to be fair, there's times I wish I could turn irl commentators off and just watch the game and the various infographics that come up, especially with Statcast.

This is not a productive post, and an example of why people complain about franchise fans. I am not pleased with the direction of this series either but the dev team is far from sorry.

Although importing players into a franchise will always be my biggest request, I’m OK without it. Simply tightening up budget screens would have been nice too. Having to bring a calculator into my gaming to multiply player’s weekly salaries isn’t for me...

Sure, Heidi Watney will be I nice additition to most modes. Contract extensions & back/front loading contracts will be nice too but haven’t we always had the ability to input actual player salaries?

Normally, I’m OK with subtle yearly franchise improvements but seeing how much more attention goes into DD is disheartening. What’s worse is watching how excited the crew gets when “unveiling a new legend” during the streams...

Roster makers are now making a stand (and I applaud them for it). A sole Ridin roster set which will drop mid-summer? No Hybred roster set at all? What in the h—- is going on around here?

This feels like a bad dream...

I may be in the minority, but for the most part Im satisfied with franchise mode with one glaring exception that Ill get to shortly.

I feel that immersion is actually pretty solid. I like the audio recap of league events post game. Reminds me of the tony bruno show when EA put effort into franchise mode. Carry over saves are nice. Improvements to progression/regression a plus. Player quirks adds to player differential. Custom stadium sounds a big plus.

But for me, the watered down and shallow amateur draft and oddities that come along with it like players disappearing then reappearing, too many players age 24, and draft way too short are deal breakers for me. No compelling reason for me to upgrade I guess until that phase gets attention.

That is my #1 want. Deep and immersive player scouting and a true deep amateur draft.

However the real issue is the limited roster size and why the draft is so short. My hope is that the next generation of console that will be expanded (the rosters).

But yes....indeed this is a huge want and vital to franchise mode in terms of term building. It needs to be a lot better. Scouting should be immersive and wide in scope. If someone does not want to handle it...toggle on the auto. But those of us who love to search and find the next Mike Trout or diamond in the rough in the 20th round....this is sorely needed.

The issue here is that if you sim 5-7 years into the future, the starting rotations for MLB teams feature several guys with 60-70 stamina. The whole rotation trends this way over time. When that happens, you either have to edit the pitchers' stamina or edit fatigue sliders to get your pitchers (and the CPU's) to throw a realistic number of innings.

This seems to me not to be an intentional design decision but a flaw in how they've programmed stamina to work over the long haul in franchise.

As dumb as it sounds, this was the issue that pushed me away from franchise. I won't play MLBTS again till this gets dealt with, as it's an immersion breaker and as I don't want to edit the league every year. To each his own on that one, but I'd say this issue is more a bug than a feature.

That's just one of many examples but I disagree - it is broken because scouting for the amateur draft is to inaccurate to determine what a pitcher's stamina is until he is drafted and with only 7 draft picks it is possible to draft zero starting pitchers capable of being starting pitchers which is what just happened in my franchise. For the league overall there too few pitchers who have a chance to become serviceable starting pitchers by the time their stamina declines at -1 per year spent in milb.

By definition franchise should be sustainable into the future.

                        Exactly.

There's starters in my franchise with sub-60 stamina, and it's not "because the clock ran out on them being starters".

And relievers might start dropping to single digit stamina soon.

And these are all good players. 80+. B/A. In their prime years.

I think it's intentional because it came with the whole "new" pitcher development where they locked velocity/movement (for whatever reason).

Maybe they fixed it but if so they missed a good opportunity to tell us in the franchise thread. The article seems to double down on the fact they added realistic contracts and nothing more unless unlockable cheers is considered an addition.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's tweaks (I can't remember if the changed development system to what it is now was explicitly mentioned).

Realistic contracts is their "prime addition" this year, so to speak. It's what they think looks better "on the box" or when franchise is talked about more so than "hey we tweaked stamina on development for long term franchises".

I bet a lot of franchisers aren't in year 10 or 17 or some such, even if they carryover and are mostly franchise players. So it probably wouldn't seem like a draw even if they did fix it (or better just go back to the older system before MLB16 I think it was that it was changed).

MLB is going to announce some rule changes today. Some of which will (hopefully) impact Franchise mode in The Show and (hopefully) force them to give it some attention.

                                - One trade deadline, which will be July 31 (no more August trades).
                                - 26-man rosters. 28-man in September.
