this may seem like a strange question but If i have a saved franchise in show 17 can I carry it over to 20?

I thought I read I have to carry it over to 18 then 19 then 20. Is this correct?

I'm pretty sure that is correct, you have to go through 18 and 19 to get to 20. Remember real players from the MLBPA who are no longer part of the league will be given generic names when you carry over.
