On Topic: when it comes to CAPS, the doc is indeed sublime.
BIG tip of the CAP to Dr. Sublime.

Off Topic: favorite baseball movies since 2000 is either Trouble With The Curve
(wanna see Bo Gentry in Bacon's Fictional League)
or Benchwarmers (Howie Goodman steals the show IMO)

Could barely ever make it out of the Division Series and never had a shot at a Pennant, much less a World Series Title or appearance.

Moneyball is a joke exposed over a decade ago. Great business and marketing gimmick model though for filling seats over the course of a 162 games with a cheap owner in a small market with arguably the worst fan experience stadium in the league.

this is just my own opine but ''true'' moneyball A's (circa 2000-2005) was a great success as far as the regular season goes.
but, also IMO, moneyball ended when the A's changed ownership around 2005-06

Always thought Moneyball was so overrated given the Athletics results in October. Says what you want about the Yankees and their attempts to "buy" a World Series, but in the end all George Steinbrenner (when he was alive) wanted was to win and I never thought there was anything wrong with that.

Wow, harsh.

I know championships are what it’s all about but the Tigers recently spent the better part of a decade as a top 5 squad, both in personnel and payroll, and didn’t win ****, yet did pound a Yankees team that was way better than them in the postseason. Baseball is just funny like that.

I wouldn’t diss moneyball just based on a lack of postseason success; plenty of way more expensive, way better teams have lacked postseason success. That they were good, exciting, division-winning teams can be enough sometimes imo.

They beat a Yankees team that was better than them TWICE, (2006 and 2011)

I think they were a better team than the Yankees team they beat in 2012.

Also lost to a Red Sox team that they were probably better than (2013)
