Get out of double underhooks asap. if you get to over under, just transition blocks and if he tries to take you down, it will be reversed into side control for you.

Re: How do you stop a slam?

I've found simply defending while in the clinch works wonders. If they're peppering you with knees or something it's annoying, but it won't hurt as much as getting slammed, so I just defend while in the clinch.

Most times if they go for a slam, it automatically goes for a guillotine attempt and pulls them into your guard (which you were going to end up in anyway). I click LS to release the choke attempt and not burn myself out, and then go to work in defensive guard.

Re: How do you stop a slam?

Usually, the less skilled players always try for the big slam, which is back on the RS. To counter takedowns like this, you have to hold your RS in the opposite direction they push it. So if they're going for the slam mentioned before, you would hold forward on your RS which would counter into a Guillotine Choke, and the likelihood of tapping is much greater than a submission attempt from the ground. The main idea is to not get caught in a clinch with a wrestler, if you do, like someone said before, try to get at least one hook in. Those slams do so much damage so you need to make sure you to avoid them.

i hate the belly to belly suplexs the most, they are the hardest to counter, but if you do you wind up in full mount.

If you are in guard and they go for that slam just use a transition block.
