I doubt its Sterling. The money fight is Faber or a Dillashaw rematch. They need to raise Sterling's profile a little before he gets the shot.

That was fantastic.

What a great fight. Very tough to score, though. I agreed with Cruz winning, as I thought he got the better part of some key exchanges, but wouldn't have been shocked if TJ got the nod.

I'd love to see them go at it again. All depends on how Cruz heals up. Still amazing to compete at a high level after all of his injuries over the last 4 years.

I know its hard to predict what would have happened but I just have a hard time seeing Cruz lose too many fights that would have taken place over the last 4 years, or however long its been (he fought once in 4 years, right? or is it 3 years), either way, thats at least 6 fights if hes healthy and I think its safe to say he probably goes at least 5-1 in those fights and has one of the best records of all time by now.

I know that is kind of fuzzy. Maybe he goes 0-6, I know we cant say for sure, but my money would be on him winning all or almost all of his fights in that span and being talked about as one of the 5 best GOAT type guys.

Agreed. Very entertaining fight and tough to score.
I had Cruz winning the first there rounds and TJ taking the last two.

TJ was definitely the more aggressive, but Cruz was so friggin' elusive that TJ would come in, swing and miss and Cruz would counter with a couple shots and be gone. It looked like Dillashaw was fighting a shadow.

According to fight metric TJ missed I think 299 punches. That's insane. When asked about it on mma hour Bang Ludwig said "we miss on purpose to set other things up" lol. I realize fighters do feint and throw punches 30% power to get reactions, but 300 haha cmon.

Happy for Cruz. His trash talk to TJ has been hilarious too.

I'm just not sold on the "I missed shots on purpose" deal.

I understand the concept of throwing something only as a decoy to set something else up but that wasn't what I saw in this fight. TJ is on MMAhour right now basically saying the same thing again, he just said "he got points for something you shouldn't get points for, making me miss doesn't score you points," which seems just wrong to me, I dunno.

He has a small point. Defense is not a part of the judging criteria. You cant win a fight just by making someone miss. With that said, effective striking and aggression is a part of the Unified Rules and you could argue that missing 200 plus strikes wasnt effective.

TJ shouldn't be rewarded for missing 200-plus punches, that's for sure.
