This is just kind of how life works. The best of the best will won't get punished like a average employee would. Bosses, Owners, etc. will always deal with the baggage of their top producers because the top money earners are the ones who are lining their pockets the most. Even in the "real world" a car or real estate salesman who is at the top month in and month out will always going to get much more leeway than someone who is in the middle or at the bottom every month. Is it fair? Probably not, but that's just the way it is.

It's kind of hard to compare to this to any team sport situation as well. Because if a top NBA guy like LeBron James or Steph Curry do something incredibly stupid like this. Then their team can certainly punish them but they would never cut them. And even if they did there's no competition for them to run off to. For the UFC to cut their biggest earner and potentially give their competitor the biggest draw that they've had? That's damn near a business killing decision. Their best bet is to get Conor to apologize and come out against him publicly, but privately spin this into major PPV sales.

If this week doesn't make it crystal clear to UFC ownership why PPV buys and TV ratings are down, not sure they'll ever figure it out.

There are too many different variables at work here to say what will happen. Legal, State commision, Federal, UFC, and then Russia (if you want to have a fight there). Not to mention all the other things that have to fall in place with fighters and the division. We see this over and over; Max Holloway steps in and people start predicting stuff. hold on to your hats, guys! Khabib can lose a fight to Pettis, Conor can be suspended for 2 years, A fight in Russia can fall through, what we DO know is that this effin' dude just destroyed 3 fun fights off the card!
