Hi All,
I'm currently working on a Kobe Era season scenario. However, as we know a lot of the data is not available for those seasons, particularly when in relation to a lot of the post-related attributes. Therefore, what I plan on doing is establishing a base for each position and then using related characteristic to either lower or raise or lower it.
So if we look at post control, the base for each position would be:
- Centres: 74
- Power Forwards: 75
- Small Forwards: 61
- Shooting Guards: 54
- Point Guards: 40
(Credit to Real2kInsider for helping me with this)
We would then factor in Post Hook FG%, Close Shot% and the Strength rating of the player and add or subtract these attributes from the base, depending on whether the players output is above or below the positional average across the league.
So if we look at Shaq's output for the 04-05 season, his Close Shot FG% was 71%, his strength rating would be a 10 and his Hook Shot % was 49.2%. His performances were well above average for all three attributes. As a result, the following calculation would give us his final Post Control rating:
74+7+10+5= 96 Post Control rating.
Since I'm fairly new to roster/scenario creation, I would love some feedback on this approach from experienced roster creators and whether or not it would work.
Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated.
