Potential Rating

Hey guys I was making a fictional draft class and I had a question about potential rating. Is potential rating their overall rating cap? Like say I set it at 70 and the rookie is currently rated at a 62. Does that mean the best he will become is 70 overall?

No. If the player exceeds 70 overall his new potential rating will become = to his overall rating (which then increases his growth rate = to his new potential rating). Whether he gets there is dependent on his age and how far away from the potential rating he starts off.

For instance if a player w/ 68 overall as a rookie has 70 potential, he will eclipse 70 quite quickly, and his potential will increase year to year since he'll keep eclipsing it. Meaning he likely ends up at 80 potential & rating by the time he stops improving and starts declining.

Does anyone know of any formulas we can use that take age and potential rating to determine overall rating increase per year or peak overall rating.

That's not how potential works anymore. It's the max rating the player we'll get, unless they get a team chemistry boost or untapped potential
