My dad and I are having "2K Day" Sunday. Every year since 2K11 we have a draft of sorts and use a roster such as the one I provided, similar sounding to what you do with your fam. My dad is the reason I got into hoops, I bought him a PS4 and we have a blast.

I need to gripe for a minute:


No one really knows why guys like Reggie, Charles, CWebb, etc etc aren't in the game. It's maddening that at this point we essentially still fail to have access to 10% of the guys who have ever played in the league. Chuck is on the Dream Team, CWebb is an announcer, all the audio is supported, their cyberfaces are on the disk/2K has them yet they aren't in the game!? WTF!?


I wish they would STOP SPENDING MONEY on things like mycareer. Now hear me out. In no way am I saying totally get rid of mycareer, because the people that buy the game deserve diversity for their money they shell out, and everyone has their own take on what they want their experience to be.


Part of why I do this roster is because of MyTeam. Now don't get me wrong, conceptually this game mode is sweet. But why the F#CK do we have those player models in MyTeam that we can use but NOT IN OTHER GAME MODES!? DROP THOSE MF#CKERS IN THE FA POOL 2K!


How do people continue to be okay with sinking the money into MyTeam and MyCareer that they do when it's blatantly obvious what a money grab it is!? That's a HUGE reason I go balls to the wall to try to create the best and deepest roster full of players I can, because the developer themselves are FAILING TO ATTEMPT TO DO SO!


It sucks for us consumers whether this game was a casual pick up or you are a die hard hoops head. This title could be SO content rich but it just isn't! With the photogrammetry (tech they used to get the shoes in the game looking so well/detailed) we should have EVERY SINGLE uniform a team has ever worn, and at least a few thousand shoes. I sound like every whiny consumer but I am aware there is a process and these things all take time, resources and financial wherewithal to put into the game.


BUT. THE. OPPORTUNITY. IS. THERE.


The way I see it, if I can accomplish what I have given basically zero real tools, no help and no studio; this game should be better. Now don't get me wrong I'm a MAJOR fan of the series and it continues to get deeper and richer (I SO appreciate the changes to myleague!) but I feel like they are selling us all SO short.


STOP shelling out money for NCAA licenses/rights from schools and pour more money into classic teams! STOP spending so much time and effort and pouring resources and time and money into cheesy @ss MyCareer. Allow us to still create a character but streamline that mode and stop pouring so much effort into it! It's sooooooo tacky. Unplayable, really. You start out as 55 OVR but you start? Yeah, okay.


Make the game mode simpler. And I miss Creating A Legend, which was MyPlayer essentially but player locked on the NBA/roster player of your choice. With custom rosters and mode control similar to myleague that would have been SICK in this years version. But sadly I feel like they add less content to the game year to year because they're so g0ddamn focused on squeezing every penny they can out of MyTeam and MyCareer... which is infuriating and insulting.


It's also SUCH a tease having 2K give us 8 college teams instead of just waiting for the eventuality that will be their college game. Don't give me some incomplete nonsense half wit version of a college game and all these HORRIBLE and cheesy cut scenes and storylines. And texting? Coach K calling you? COME ON!


Not to mention the simple little things that could ABSOLUTELY be easy fixes but they refuse to add/code them in; such as adjusting legend players ages, using custom roster in black top mode, more gear for players, more shoes, more jerseys... the list sadly goes on.


As much as I think NBA Live has gone down the toilet bowl the past five years (obviously) I hope to god basketball jesus touches their poor incompetent souls and lifts them up to push 2K to squeeze out the hoops product that they're actually capable of. Cus I am just left wondering what could be each year this game comes out, despite how good it has gotten.

Thanks man! This is as invested as I've ever been in this project and I will only go deeper and make it better. It was painstaking as all f*cking hell to find guys who looked good enough to pass as the players I wanted. And honestly I think 2K has Shaqs body messed up in the models they have, he's so rectangular and such an odd shape. I hate it.


And the crazy thing is when I was literally like 80hrs in my F*CKING file was corrupted and I literally thought I was going to puke. I was beyond mad. I was so upset lol. But I started over, kept chugging and learned from my mistake lol. Now I have four file saves for this thing and when I make changes I save it four times per. Tedious but worth it.


I spent like anywhere between 4 to literally 10 or 12hrs on this at a time. Between tendencies, ratings, badges, gear, likeness, personal info, body, testing... it took FOREVER. I honestly wish I had clocked my total time. Oh well, next time for sure... cus I honestly want to know how much time it took.

Maaaaaan I don't know how you convinced yourself to start over. I applaud you for that & this project overall. & yes, Shaq is entirely messed up in 2k's roster haha

If it wasn't such a huge bonding item between my dad and I, I probably would have scrapped it. I needed like 48hrs to get over that. My girlfriend called me shortly after and I didn't hear a word she said and couldn't focus on anything except my anger lolol. And it was hard for her to relate cus she doesn't game.


Plus I want better for us as a 2K community so I knew I had to. My house looked crazy as hell lol there were dishes everywhere and pizza boxes and I didn't leave the house it was wild lol I was on a mission. I hardly slept. Glad I got it done though.


And it'll only improve from here.

What I'm super excited for is constantly updating the file and coming out with version 2.0 with the CAPs.


That way we can populate a 150 player list and I'll get that done also. Not quite at the same pace as the first version but I'll do it none the less. It won't be too bad because that's how I started doing all this in the first place.


I wish I still had my PS3 cus I made I don't even KNOW how many CAPs on there when you could upload individual guys to 2K share and could download them one by one and they kept track of how many DL there were. I had HELLA downloads.


I'm gonna try to see how many I had total. It was insane.


The 2K community is pretty great overall.
