JazzMan's NBA 2K18 Fictional Draft Classes

I took JazzMan up on his request for testers on this class. With the class now being released publicly and me just getting around to running some sims, I figured I'd just post my results here for those that are curious - but you gotta click for the spoilers.

When scrolling through the league's overalls after Year 7, I stumbled upon Aleksander Joerger who was a stash player taken in this class at pick #35 and had an 87 potential in year 7 (don't know if they can change over time). He was an 88 overall EOY7, who made 1st Team All-Rookie in the year 2021

I used a custom draft class I'm working on, JB's class, the NBA2kCreationz 2018-2020 classes that are at the top of 2kshare, then some auto-generated classes.
- At year's end, highest 5 overalls from JazzMan's class were Marshall (90), Wisniewski (89), Deante Harrison (88), Aleksander Joerger (88), Steve Fletcher (87) - it's possible I missed someone if I wasn't overtly familiar with their name when scrolling, similar to how I almost missed Joerger.

Strange how some players get past their potential rating and then some. Guys like Wisniewski, Harrison, Joerger, and Fletcher went well past their potential rating.

What was the progression slider at for the testing? And did you let the game do the "storylines" thing when you started the season, or no?

My progression slider was at 55.

I wonder if I was using the overall that takes morale into effect, which would explain why a couple guys showed a drop from year 1 to year 3 but then shot back up for year 5. Not that it would explain guys well exceeding potentials. Maybe 2K has a little more bust/gem factor to its progression than in the past.

Overall really enjoyed the class though. Haven't had much time to play actual games with them, but I love following guys throughout their career.

Interesting to see 2nd rounder Casey Norman sneak into All-Rookie 1st Team honors. Clippers lost DeAndre Jordan in free agency, but seem to have a promising big man in Norman, who started all 55 games that he suited up for. At just 69 OVR, I'll be keeping tabs on his progression to see if this was a one-time stop-gap season while the franchise looks for a franchise center, or if they choose to try and develop Norman.

Webber, Marshall, and Anderson are all Top 3 picks and put up solid numbers. Marshall and Anderson both suffered season ending injuries, leading to less appearances for the both of them. Webber looks like Dirk's replacement in Dallas at just 20 years old.

Though all of these guys (except Harrison) were top 8 picks, they all were just spot starters for their respective teams. Blake started 60 games out of 82 played for the Knicks, Wagner started 40 out of 82, Wisniewski 63 out of 82, and Harrison 31 out of 79. So they're all getting opportunity, but they're earning their stripes by playing off the bench still fairly often. A little concerning that most of the All-Rookie Teams were made up of Top 8 picks, but it's great to see Harrison and especially Norman out-perform their draft position their rookie season.

Notable Stats/Storylines

- 19th OVR Pick PG Henry Sampson only played 6 games due to injury in a crowded Clippers backcourt, but he put up 12, 4, and 2 in those games shooting 54/55/89. 73 OVR.

- 24th OVR Pick Markel Cameron had a similar outcome for the Hornets, but shot just 36/33/63. Hornets like his potential after trading Kemba for the 1st overall pick, leading to center Darren Marshall.

- 12th OVR Pick Eddie Hansen played just 6 games for the Pistons, putting up 9 points and 3 assists off of 40/48/89.

- 13th Pick Nicholas Mix played 57 games for the Knicks, putting up 8 points, 3 assists, and 2 boards with 47/40/61 percentages. Played 17 MPG, started 13 games. 73 OVR

- 7th Pick Elton McDonald only played in 16 games for the Celtics, while fellow rookie big man DeAntae Harrison (15th Pick) outperformed him on every level, even starting 31 games for the Celtics while appearing in 79. Pretty cool to see Boston value McDonald's potential and youth in the draft, but go with the more polished and mature Harrison during the regular season. I'll be keeping an eye on how these two develop and are handled by the Celtics.

- 9th OVR Pick Isaiah Anderson played in 63 games for the Kings, starting in 15 of them. He played 21 MPG, putting up 8 PPG, 1 RPG, 1 APG while shooting a 40/35/73. Good defender, but his advanced stats don't look good. Kings look like they like his potential and fit though so they played him anyway, 74 OVR

- 36th OVR Pick Tyree Andrews played 17 games for the Nets, playing 17 MPG and putting up 6 points and 4 boards while shooting 42/31/66. 69 OVR

- 38th OVR Pick Isaiah Connor played 28 games for the Thunder, starting 27. Averaged 6 points, 7 boards, 1 assist, and 1 block in 28 MPG.

- 10th OVR Pick Nelson Williams only played 4 games for the talented Sixers, 74 OVR

- 27th OVR Pick Renaldo Herrera played 28 games for Brooklyn, starting 16. Put up 3 and 6 with a block, 73 OVR

- 6th Pick Earl Johnson only played 14 games for the Suns as he returned from a torn ACL in College, 74 OVR

On my first class, I have reached 60 total prospects. That means I can likely start on Class #2 soon while I periodically update and tune Class #1.
