We need to revisit this “Hall of Fame Score” being the determining factor in players becoming staff members now that we have so many more positions to fill in the MyNBA modes. This definitely needs to be a point of emphasis next cycle.

I agree and honestly that shouldn’t even be the determining factor. Ime Udoka didn’t have a very high Hall of Fame Score as a player, but crushed it his first year as head coach.

I wish they would just make it a personality badge you can tag whoever you want with.

Most of the good coaches in the league today would have very low hall of fame scores. With MyNBA Eras it is even more telling if you start in the 80s or 90s era, where most of today's coaches come from.

Here is a list of people who won't be elligible to become coaches under the current system: Jacque Vaughn, Steve Kerr, Billy Donovan, Darvin Ham, Ime Udoka, Doc Rivers, Rick Carlisle, Nate McMillan, Tyronn Lue, etc...

Here are the players who will become coaches: Dominique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, etc...

There is/was a value in the roster editors for last gen NBA 2k on PC that allows you to designate a player to become a coach after retirement. That should be in the game. Just allow us to check who will become a coach and who will not by placing that option in the player editor.

Did that feature work for you? (Promise staff position) I remember using it but guys didn’t show up in the pool the following offseason after they retired.

Even in the default game it takes like 2 or 3 offseasons before you see guys in the candidate pool.

There's more to it than this in Eras, Kerr, Doc and Nate all became coaches in my 91 eras save, Ime, Ty Lue, Darvin Ham and Vaughn are all still playing (I'm in 2005) and the vast majority of others that would retire and go on to become coaches irl (Sam Mitchell, McHale, Larry Legend, Terry Porter, Bill Cartwright, Isiah, Scotty Brooks and others) have also shown up as coaches. Donovan and Carlisle aren't on any rosters but I'd bet they would have something that would ensure they show up as coaches as well if they were on any official rosters.
