I do like this change though, as it makes the game more of a challenge.
I disagree. I am not a fan of the missed layups and buffed inside defense, because the shot blocking and shot contest range is too high. If every shot wasn’t blocked and challenged by 2 or 3 people I might agree, but it is hard to even get a shot over a 7 footer with a 70 block rating.

League averages on shots at the rim, is way out of line with what you get after the patch. Now, if they want to keep it this way and increase the foul calls I am for that.

Re: Interior Defense got a MAJOR buff

Posted this in the other thread but copying it here since it seems we’re all gonna have to find solutions to a new problem so I’m curious what you guys do to make it more realistic again:

So now it’s a whole new rabbit hole to go down. Due to their constant messing with shooting I at least know how to fix that. Drop jumpshot defensive strength sliders, lower timing impact, raise shooting sliders. Easy.

Getting inside scoring right is more complicated and also new territory for me cause it was fine before (maybe a bit O/P but not to the degree of the level of correction they applied). Because we can raise inside/layup sliders but I have a feeling since this is defensive contest related, that won’t suffice. So then next option is to lower interior/layup defensive strength sliders but it’s been said when you do that (at least in previous 2K’s) you lose some shot contest animations inside and also it lowers shooting fouls in the paint, which is the last thing we need. Not sure if that’s true with this game, but many long time players said it in past years.

Welp, I haven't played since Thursday so this news certainly doesn't have me looking forward to returning.

If bunnies really are suddenly easily missed, I'm going to be kinda irritated. The constant adjustment in gameplay is incredibly frustrating.

As someone who posts in sliders, these changes make me crazy. Just when you get something that works, it back to the freaking drawing board.

I think you right about the approach. It's a combo of increasing inside and layup shooting sliders, slight reductions to defense sliders, and iterate to tweak.

Then see what they change again in a few days. Sigh...

EDIT: Nevermind. I see what you mean. The interior defense is fine. But shot success inside is abysmal now. I’m bricking hilariously open inside shots and layups.
You're bricking insanely open layups? Are you being a bit hyperbolic there?

Honestly, the more I play, the more I like the changes. I will agree that shot contests have too large a range... maybe not the range itself as contest percentages seem fine, but more that low contest percentages have too large of an effect. A 10% contest shouldn't greatly alter my shot timing ability.

The inside changes, to me, act far more realistically to me. Also, I assume many complaining about missing layups don't utilize mid air adjustments, which actually can increase your chances of making contested layups if done right contextually, and will greatly increase your ability to draw fouls.

Well my game last night, with inside shot and layup sliders raised 2-3 points, it felt just right. So not sure if that’s the game un-glitching or my sliders doing their job to balance it back. I agree it was TOO O/P before but the way the game played 2 days ago was ridiculous. I was literally missing open inside shots.

BUT, my most recent game just hours ago felt great with sliders raised a couple points for the paint. Not as overpowered as before but not as bad as the other day.

PLEASE DON’T TOUCH IT AGAIN! 2K takes an issue that could use slight tweaking and goes too far in the other direction. Hopefully last night wasn’t a fluke but I got it to a decent place for now.

Re: Interior Defense got a MAJOR buff

My 70 block, 70 interior defense and 70 defensive rebounding at 6'9 with bronze Anchor is SOOOOO OP in the Rec now.

Got out in a couple posters, but that happens. Most guys that try to bully my SF end up bricking cuz hands up. Smaller guards rush me and Bronze anchor let's me spike their ball into the stands.

I love it. I just don't think it's very realistic.

Rec will never be realistic. I've accepted that any game with created players in online competition will be mostly broken. Even tennis games couldn't find balance with created players.

I can tell that Visual Concepts tried hard to balance the Gameplay, and I think it's the best they've done yet, but I look at Rec as more of an arcade experience than simulation.
