I know 10 out of 10 means a perfect game and it's not, but if the game didn't have bugs and everything worked as you can tell they were intended, it's a 10 out of 10 for me. Even with predatory VC which I hate.

Rhythm shooting is the perfect mix of challenging but not too hard. It's harder than just meter shooting but easier than the time they tried to add a timing meter with an aim meter. It's really a perfect balance.

Also the new "go to shot" mechanic is so great. I love making these shots lol.

Defence is actually fun to play. The new defensive controls actually give me a chance to play on ball but stars are still a major problem which they should be.

All the new pro play stuff they've added has really kicked the game into crazy new levels of authenticity.

The biggest reason this is a 10 though is the new dribble system and overall responsiveness. Dribbling in past 2k games has always been a little Mortal Kombatish for me. Basically I'm hammering sticks and buttons with a general idea of what was gonna happen but often reality and what I thought wouldn't match up. I've gone through the "learn 2k" about 5 times and for the first time I actually feel like I have a complete understanding of what I'm trying to do. Pair that with the responsiveness of everything and I feel in control.

I liked NBA Live. The graphics were inferior, the modes were shallow, animations paled in comparison, to be honest almost everything about it lagged far behind 2k. But the one area it was far better in was control and responsiveness. 2k is finally where I felt live had excelled at.

MyGM is back and amazing, myNBA is it's usual greatness. Eras is unmatched In awesomeness in all sports gaming. Tack on loving the WNBA and I'm in basketball heaven.

Sounds like online might have some warts but I've got so much to do offline I'm not sure I'll even get much into online this year.
I agree! This year is truly a masterpiece already out of the box. The only big problem is that of substitutions , the CPU does not make substitutions!?

agree with so many - I grabbed on xsx and out of the box it's amazing - there are actual fast breaks, weight change of direction - just so much more dynamic and finally rewarding - great stuff that's been missing for so long.

perfect? no. But on the court it's never been better.

Nobody cares about a US key of the standard version for Xbox? I purchased 2 by mistake in the pre-order phase from 2 different sites, one clearly I don't need. Anyone interested contact me.

Love the movement, shooting, and dribbling. Never better.

The fatigue and rotation bugs are very disappointing. I'm still playing using manual subs and just trying to beat these super computer players that don't tire. I actually won an overtime game last night that was really satisfying lol. Hoping they fix that soon though.

Soundtrack still may have to grow on me. It usually does. Granted, I haven't really paid a ton of attention to it yet but I have yet to hear a song that I may potentially download later, I usually will download at least a few a year.

Re: NBA 2K25 Impressions Thread (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC)

Early impressions are great for me as well. I'm playing on superstar now i made shot timing impact 0 for USer and i'm also increasing offensive rebounds for user and CPU. Also i found the lay-up misses way too often than makes, what kind of slider changes would you suggest? Anything else did you notice?

By the way i basically want the shot making to be like the explanation on low-risk reward shot selection but it's still low % for me. I need to get excellent release most of the time to get it done. Is difficulty based a better option than this one or completely go for real player fg % ?

I'm wide open and if i miss it because of bad shot meter timing i'm pissed.

Also 2K should fix go to moves of some players. Try Dame Lillard's for example, you'll get stripped off the ball 99 out of 100 times. You basically dribble into the defender and lose the ball. So it's useless now.

By the way i really loved how good rebounder jump out of the gym or go sky high to grab the crowded rebound. Excellent sight to see and more realistic of course.

Lastly, why do we have to have shot meter on FT attempts and why did 2K ditch broadcast zoom camera?

Re: NBA 2K25 Impressions Thread (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC)

Weekend impressions:

Positives:

-The Proplay impact to dribbling is probably the biggest year to year difference to this series. The fact you can cancel out of any dribble animation and it blends right in pretty flawless to another just opens the game up.
-The shooting options they give are crazy but I have settled on normal risk. I want to go full rhythm shooting but not there yet. High risk-high reward just seems cheesy to me. I prefer realistic difficulty.
-We have really good fast breaks off of turnovers now when you play against the CPU.
-You have to go into practice to really lab teams/players you want to use.

Negatives:

-Lack of impact of fatigue for most players and almost no CPU rotation right now kind of kills the immersion right now for the game. When you beat the CPU on the higher difficulty you really earned that victory.
-Why must all poor shooters be able to shoot 3's for the CPU when open. I don't like that you have to guard even the bad shooters. Feels like a difficulty band aid I am on Superstar.
-Help defense seems to not help when it should.
