This game doesn't have much worth to me without 30-team control and freedom to edit in MyGM mode. I hope these options are available in the regular "Season Mode" in this game that I've heard about in this forum. The game looks beautiful and everything, no doubt but man is this a killer for me. It sucks seeing a game this great but having to wait until next year for them to include these options.

Any reason why 2K can't just patch this based on everyone's reaction? Is the coding that difficulty? If so, fine.

8.9 is good but I wish it would have gotten a 9. Also I think IGN won't give 2K Sports games the props they deserve because they are bias towards EA Sports, I actually think EA does IGN favors for hyping and over scoring their top sports titles.

Re: NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Review (IGN)

I think the review was fair. 8.9 isn't bad for any game, let alone a sports game. I so can't wait tip Friday to play 2K14.

On a side note, go to Target and buy 2 PS4 games and get 1 free. Most of the games released today. I was only buying two games, since I got a free one, i picked up Madden 25 next gen as well.

I'll ask again: which of the next gen titles that are releasing on both the current and next gen systems represent an entirely different gameplay experience?

If you're going into this generation expecting every game to be some wholly new experience and none of them are, then I'd have to say the problem lies in the person having unrealistic expectations, not the games themselves.

I see you mentioned "new engine" and I think to some that means "entirely different game". When the current gen game was already considered to be the best basketball ever - why would anyone realistically expect them to throw the baby out with the bath water and go in a completely different direction when it wasn't necessary? Or even practical?
do you know why people expected a different experience? did you watch the eco-motion trailer? quotes directly from the 2k team:

you have to deliver a completely different experience for that incoming console because thats what people are really going to measure you on. hey you know what? that looks phenomenal. that felt great. that is so different than what they did before.

for us on the gameplay side at least what that really means is making sure that these guys think that they behave that they act like they do in real life.

nba 2k14 on the playstation 4 is a fundamentally new experience
Quote:
for us to be able to start over fresh and to say that weve got this new ecomotion engine that can drive so many different things. its our rendering. its our ai. its our animations. its everything
youre right though. i cant imagine why anyone would think it would be a new experience.

I skipped current gen 2K14, so I'm very excited to play this version. I actually am pleased with what I've seen so far because I was expecting less and 2K has set a great foundation. Yes, it's not perfect, but I'm looking forward to the 15th!

Re: NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Review (IGN)

Like many others, I got a serious GTA V-meets-WWE vibe from the MyCareer cutscenes. Considering both franchises are under the Take Two umbrella, this is either a really crazy coincidence or a really crazy conspiracy. Whatever the case may be, I like where this mode is going.

Watching this video review in full HD on my tablet was mindblowing. By far the best footage yet released of 2K14 gameplay. Fully on board for Friday.

Just not sure why this is a full .2 points lower than FIFA 14, but I'm not going to jump to conclusions and overanalyze the final score of an IGN review. Still one of the top 3 best looking games on any next-gen console. I don't care what anyone says.
