Suggestions to curb the high PIP?

I have recently downloaded an updated roster to tide me over until 2k15. The gameplay is still good. But one problem I have not been able to solve is the incredibly high number of PIP (Points in the paint). Every team I play kills me inside, regardless of their play style and strengths and weaknesses. I have lowered inside scoring down to 29 and it hasn't worked. I have raised defensive awareness, on ball defense, blocks, driving and inside contact to 100 to no avail. Just now I had a sequence where I was playing with Portland against Golden State. CPU Aldridge was guarding David Lee as I manually defended Iguodala. The second Iggy passed the ball to Lee, Aldridge just takes off out of bounds to the top of the Portland "P" giving David Lee an easy 2. These are the type of plays that kill me. Why does this happen and is there any remedy the community has come up with?
