Changing players numbers in MyGm mode

Just signed Ray Allen in my Cavs franchise and by default it gave him the jersey number 20. I can't change it to 34 even though no one else on the roster is 34. Any help on this?

Because #34 is retired by the Cavs, And you cant assign players retired numbers on the game

Thought most people knew that

Why did they even go to a player picture profile if after the offseason or signing a FA they turn to virtual portrait of the player. I.e. Sign Charlie Villanueva to the mavs , the portrait will changed from his Detroit jersey pic to his digital portrait... Sux

Why does that suck? I think it's really cool. Why have a pic in him of an outdated jersey?

Yes I did know you couldn't give someone a retired number, but I wasn't aware that number was retired on the Cavs. No need for the attitude on the answer, but thanks for making me aware.

Yeah I think it's way better too. I don't understand guys that want the real picture of the player at all times. I'd rather have all digital personally.
