Getting rid of auto dribbling moves would make ballhandling and on ball defense more

Moving the ball from one hand to the other should require the user to use the right stick. Being able to switch hands and do dribbling moves with just the left stick is unrealistic and is the main culprit of the infamous zigzag.

If they wanted to add a badge that allows elite ballhandlers to do cross overs and other dribble moves with just the left stick i would be for that. But to allow a person to dribble around holding turbo and simply switch hands while changing directions with the left stick is problematic.

Right stick only dribbling would also make the matchup between the ballhandler and the on balk defender fairer and more realistic.

Implementing this in conjunction with limiting the dribble animations of non elite ball handlers would balance the game and cut down on the overpowered offense in this game.

I dig it. Tweet this to Beluba if he doesn't respond here - I like this way to stop the zig zag than what they've implemented so far.

I used to get behind the idea of this but cant anymore after trying it in Elite '11....I think it's something that can certainly be tightened up but necessary to balance everything out...

I dont think this would necessarily stop the zig zag cheese, I mean the change from one stick to the other.

However I do think that having more restrictions on dribble animations of non elite ball handlers (as propposed) in conjuction with defending players being less afected by momentum impact (stop on a dime and change directions, unless when back pedaling) should be more usefull, specially if related to the on ball defense and lateral movement ratings ... coupled with some type of increased of the dribble shot penalty and decreased ball security ratings when zig zagging ... can do the trick ... how hard is to balance or implement, we shall see.

I was never behind it and it made me think of Elite right away.

Don't bother tweeting Mike a failed model that people wont like .

As 24th said it could be tightened up but don't bother even going that direction.

Also bringing back the charge animation after drawing contact with the ball handler would help with the constant spamming the paint since right now their isn't enough of a reward to playing on ball D. Guys just run all over the place and if they run into u they just either escape dribble or go into the post to avoid picking up their dribble. Needs to be more of a penalty when attacking the rim

I never played elite. What was the problem with it? Was it unrealistic?

Elite sucked so badly... Everything looked terrible so I'm not sure you can relate anything in that game to 2K (think JR Smith, Iman Shumpert on Knicks vs now on Cavs).

2K's player movement is much more responsive (compared to Elite), so we don't know how it would necessarily affect game play..

That being said, I like the idea. Would cut-down on some of the ridiculous drives you can pull off, IMO. If done properly it could give us more control with great ball handlers as well.

                    Definately agree with that.

The best way to get rid of the zig-zag cheese is to work on eliminating clipping. If hands don't pass through the ball and the ball doesn't pass through bodies, then you can actually play defense on players like that and just steal the ball from them.

I think the biggest factor behind the success of zig zagging is the online lag.

Elite had other issues besides dribbling lol

Also, the defensive footwork in 2k has been horrible for sometime now.

This, and defenders having to deal with the weight shifting penalty, while the offensive player doesn't.
