Can we talk about rookie generation?

I feel like this is one of the more lackluster aspects of the NBA 2K series.

Rookie generation is a bit TOO random IMO. Players come out looking really strange at times.

Not saying there shouldn't be a variety, but a black guy with white tribal tatts, blonde hair and blue hand tape is kind of out there.

Thoughts?

Re: Can we talk about rookie generation?

Lol yea I refuse to draft people if they look weird...makes me miss on some good prospects too but like you said I can't have a black guy with long wavy hair and a big mustache...and I wish I was lying.

The accessories are crazy too. Some guys have a white sleeve, team color wrist wrap and hand wraps looking like their wrestlers from the 80s.

I co-sign this thread completely. It kills immersion when you get these crazy looking guys in the draft. I feel like they could put in some parameters to help eliminate these issues.

For example don't let a white guy have corn rows. Don't let a black guy have wavy blonde hair.

Re: Can we talk about rookie generation?

I could care less about the looks, it's the tendencies that are the issue. Guys that have 0 shot contest tendency and a bunch of other wacky stuff that doesn't make sense at all. There's no thought process in the generation side apparently, it's just create a player with X attributes and give him tendencies that don't line up with those attributes.

A guy can have high blocking but sub 50 shot contest or high inside scoring but a low shot tendency.

It's terrible and its never getting addressed.

Re: Can we talk about rookie generation?

Honestly man, I would prefer premade draft classes like Madden had a few years ago. Just randomize the order. At least then the players would look and play the part well. Maybe even throw in some nicknames and a background story the commentators can speak about. It may suck for online leagues and stuff, but it would add immense value to offline, IMO. The generated classes have improved, NBA 2K14 was dreadful, but it's something I don't think will ever be right as long as the players are randomly generated. There are just too many variables at play here.

There's a ton of great custom made classes out there. Embracethapace has at least 3 years worth of amazing draft classes.

I know it doesn't help when you get really deep in franchise, but it definitely helps

Yes. Rookies in general are terrible to the way they look, attributes, play and the way they develop. I wish they would focus on rookies for a minute and fix the many problems.

It could help a lot more if they were able to make rosters and draft classes cross-platform.
