Badges...and how they work.

Was having a discussion with some friends about what badges to put on players and after discussing it with them, im genuinely curious.

My friend wants to add perimeter/post defender badges on the TBT Melo card. I advised him not to because Melo is a poor defender and that adding the badges doesnt help anything. So for example, adding a limitless shooter badge on Westbrook doesn't help him because he can't hit the shot anyway, due to his attributes, thus rendering the badge ineffective. Adding a fade ace badge to a CJ Miles doesn't help him because his attributes show that he doesnt shoot them. So does adding a perimeter defender badge on a bad defender still neutralize the opponent's offensive badges even though he is still a horrible defender? none of the other badges work this way.

Yes it will neutralize the offensive player's badges whether it be in the post for Post LD or on the perimeter for Perimeter LD.

It won't make his defensive ratings any better but it would help in neutralizing his weaknesses on D.

no i know it wont make his defensive ratings better. thats not what im asking. im saying that, because of his poor defensive ratings, how could it neutralize the offensive badges on the other end still. seems to me that it should work in tandem with good defensive ratings. that means i could put defensive badges on bargnani and it neutralize hakeem? thats a bit much

It just neutralizes the badge, Hakeem would still have far superior ratings vs. someone like Bargnani, so Hakeem would still dominate.
