Because whenever you make a choice between two options (in this case having to press start and not having to press start) and you pick the least intelligent one, you have embraced mediocrity.

It is obviously more intelligent to have the menus load on their own, because 100% of people who launch the game want to play it. It is irrational to think that there exists a certain segment of the 2k17 playing population who would prefer the menus not load at all, and that they need to be protected by this "start safeguard."

Whoever you are that made this choice, I know you think you're being noble in protecting those who may not want the menus to load, but those people don't exist !
