That's been my presumption. There's also a retired players association and this is pure speculation, but maybe if a player belongs to that association then passes on, perhaps his rights must be negotiated individually.

complete past seasons included as opposed to random teams from various years would be nice

start with a kobe or bron season to get the casuals interested in past seasons, then move forward and add a couple seasons each year.

charge as dlc if needed.

That would be a nice team to have, especially with Mark Eaton on the roster. It would be great if we can get that young 1990 squad while also replacing the 98 team with the 97 team + Byron Russel.

MT is hardly an accurate reflection of ratings. Malone is one of my favorite classic players but he was not that good a shooter until he got older and lost his explosiveness.

Malone's best year was 1997, the year he won his first MVP. Career best 28.9 PER. He was really good in 1990 as well but he was a devastating finisher, not a mid range sniper like he was in his mid 30's.

Stockton was certainly in his prime from 1998-1992. No argument there.

I'd love MT a lot more if they tried to be an accurate representation of history rather than randomly slapping ratings on guys just to push more pack sales. It's always fun until they start juicing modern players with "moments" cards to appeal to 10 year olds and I have to deal with Bismack Biyombo being rated higher than MVP Hakeem Olajuwon. At that point I lose all interest.

I feel if you're going to insult the best players of all time by making them on par with guys that never made an all star team, I'd rather them not be in the mode at all.

Oh man I couldn't agree more. It's bizarre some of these players that get 90+ moments cards. Think about how boosted their attributes are in order to push their rating that high.
