Re: NBA 2K17 Freelance Offense Community Wiki

So i've looked through this entire thread, and have tried multiple freelance sets trying to find what works for me the best and feels the best. But I still am drawing a blank and often find my team not playing as smooth as it should be...

Right now i've got this team going, and I would love some suggestions on how to best make them ball out.

PG: Marcus Smart (Defense and passing, threes in a pinch, and PnR)
SG: Seth Curry (Shooter on the move, PnR, secondary handler)
SF: Nick Young (See Seth + 'defense')
PF: Juan Santiago (6'11 PF with 7'8 wingspan, great in the paint and can stretch too (Think freak Dirk))
C: Joel Embiid (Can score from everywhere, threes, mids, dunks, etc.)

G: E. Logan (Quick point who can shoot midrange)
G: Stauskas (Spot up shooter, can handle the ball)
F: Redick (Elite Sharpshooter)
F: Booker (Quick glass cleaner, can score inside)
C: Bogut (Rebounds and garbage buckets)

Reserves are...
Slow shooty guard
KJ McDaniels
Pat Patterson

I know my defense is absolutely dire, and other than my bigs and Smart I'll get run over by any offense. But offensively I should be getting lots of points, and I just find my shooters unable to lose their man, and the bigs doing very little in the way of keeping the game dynamic, as their stretch abilities should be causing havoc for the AI defense.

I prefer as little iso as possible, since breaking down a HOF AI guard is impossible. I'm pretty good on the pick and roll, spot up shooting, and I can do post too.

I'd be extremely grateful for any suggestions people can give me...

What type of freelance offense would work well with the Raptors and Wizards?

4 out 1 in?

G- Good size, capable midrange pull up shooter. Great pass accuracy.
G- Long guard, good spot up shooter. Not very athletic.
F- Point forward type player, average size. Good low post scorer, very good passer.
F- Athletic, undersized 4. Runs the court well, finishes through contact. Okay high post scorer, shaky from 3.
C- Long, finesse scorer. Good hook with either hand, up and unders, fadeaways ect.

Bench:
G- Average size, quick off the dribble. Can shoot from anywhere.
G- A little short for a 2, great spot up shooter from the corners.
G- Long slashing scorer. Good in PnR, decent long range shooter. Weak at the rim.
F- Long defender, more of a mid range scorer. Weak around the rim.
C- Big and physical post scorer. Great strength and drop step. Can finish through contact.
I'd mess around with any ofth e following to see what I like. It can vary also with starters versus bench: triangle motion cuts (not all game), horns set with scoring actions, maybe some 3 out or flow

Try different ways of spreading the floor with Knick freelance motion cuts and maybe some Cavaliers motion cuts when the D pressures up and you want some dives to the hoop to keep the defense honest and take advantage of overly physical perimeter play once you hit some 3's.

With shooters I also like Horns set with scoring actions or even sometimes motion cuts. It pulls defenders into the paint a bit when you need to control the clock more and still want to find some corner 3's or 3's coming off down screens.

I'm going to post up my offense I'm currently working on with the Princeton low/chin and working with the Bucks playbook that I think would be ideal for you. Focuses a lot on the center and cutting back door to different lanes. It's awesome for guys with stretch bigs

Re: NBA 2K17 Freelance Offense Community Wiki

Is there any offense style that has split cuts off when the ball gets passed into the post? Last year the Warriors did it automatically with whatever their base one was but I'm not seeing it this year.

Warriors & Lakers freelance (they are exactly similar) has this. Pass it to the center in the post or anyone in the corner. The split cuts are dynamic, based on the situation.

Mavericks and Jazz also have split cuts, but much rarer.
