Are attribute benefits weighted? How does each point affect you?

I ask because I have 1 attribute bar left... I can give +1 to all my defense or +6 (from 29) to my strength, which helps me more?

In other words... does the game see someone who has, say, 80 shooting as being in a different "tier" as someone with 79 shooting? Or is it just 1 point more likely to go in when you shoot?

Also, is it weighted? For example,does 5 points when you're on the lower end (below 50) of an attribute matter less than getting 1 point when you're nearing the high end (above 90)?

Hopefully this question makes sense... any info on exactly how attributes impact what you do would be super helpful.

I know last year was weighted, I couldn't green wing 3s unless I had 87 on HOF difficulty, higher attribute meant bigger green window on 2k16.
