There's absolutely no reason except to rub your opponent's nose in it, and even that is completely asinine. The game doesn't give a **** if you win by 9 vs. 11. It doesn't matter either way, so what's the point?

I don't let off the pedal at all.

If me playing normally nets me a 50 point win im not gonna back off just because my opponent is sad.

calling TOs, pausing and cheese like that tho, ill never do unless I was provoked by my opponent.

Fair, I suppose. I can respect that.

I'd like to be clear about one thing though, it's not because I'm "sad" about losing though. Win or lose, I don't care. If you beat me, fine, but at least show me the respect that I deserve for playing a hard-faught game and maybe don't call a time out with under a second left or continue to push the tempo up 11 with 20 left. Is that really asking too much?

On 2k yes lol

I stay away from online play now and MyTeam. My record is really good on play now but it got boring. But yeah iv been playing that mode a lot of the years and when you play 2k you gotta account for punks like that these days.

I mean don't let me pick Cavs and I give up a 15 point lead and lose. My opponent will pause at a full pause meter and wont unpause until 1 second left. Sending me messages asking me how Durants junk taste.

Like theres a certain level of crap you have to accept when playing ANY game online. But with that said iv been playing games online since the 360 days when it really became popular

Sure. Understandable. I totally get keeping the pedal to the floor up 15 in the mid third and early fourth. I'm totally cool with that. That's a very different situation.

I don't like to perpetuate the practice of running up the score personally. If I'm up big late, I'm going to slow it down. Bring in the bench. And you can bet that if the shot clock is off in such a situation, I'm dribbling it out. Personally, I think that other person is a person, who played and played to win. The least I can do is show a little respect. Maybe it will catch on.

depends on the situation for me. if the pissed me off or its somebody i know, im NEVER letting up. the former for obvious **** *** reasons and the latter for bragging rights friendly competition reasons. but if its a random online im not running it up at all because im just not like that.

Re: Running Up The Score: Why does the 2k community insist on it?

I actually think it's kind of great if the game is at the end and I'm ahead because I don't do that and hold the ball. You can get a sense of how rare it is because people's ADD will kick in and they'll hover around you trying to get a steal or jump repeatedly in anticipation of a block only for nothing to happen.

It's sort of hilarious and I think is far more of a crushing blow than the expected someone tossing up a shot for the sake of it. Let's be honest, quite a bit of the 2K community can be self centered and all about themselves if you play Park or Pro-Am enough to know and there are those that lack any respect with messages they send. Hurt them with what they lack, respect and silence because that drives them more nuts.

I actually played a dude once on MTO, slowed the pace down and worked for open shots with pick and rolls and ball movement. Since it wasn't a pace a lot of people are used to and ended up beating him by like 10. So he messages me and tells me that the way I played was (insert homophobic term that I will not repeat). Some people out there really think that fast paced launching 3's is the only way that you can play.

It was kind of a joke but considering the fact that it's a video game, if i'm wide open on the fast break i'm gonna go in for a dunk just for the hell of it no matter what the score is or how much time is left.

But i'm not one of those people that actually calls timeouts just so they can have more time to try as hard as they possibly can to get one last bucket

I agree with this. If i have an opportunity to score, i'm gonna take it. Why should i stop trying just because my opponent played poorly
