A great Idea for the way shooting/scoring should be handled in future 2K's
The guys over at 2K likely won't do this due to it going too far in a simulation direction, But how about they track players advanced shooting Numbers.
Now this Idea is very raw/unpolished, but hear me out. All of the info is readily available on NBA.com. They could integrate a system that's always tracking players shooting ups and downs throughout the season. They could even tie that into the shot meter. Say a guy averages 45 percent on open 3s, In this case a perfect release for that player would cap at 45 percent. Same goes for contested shots. That would be just the surface of this kind of system.
The consistency rating would need to be done differently in order to replicate the true up and down nature of games from night to night. I suggest a non fixed rating system. For example: Curry's 3 rating would be a 90 max with the ability to drop down to 70-75, And the consistency rating would determine how often that would be happening. Again these are just some ideas bouncing around in my head since about NBA 2K16.
I want a system like this to be put into place at some point. This is something that could take things to the next level. Players wouldn't be overrated. Wouldn't have to worry about late updates to ratings and tendencies. It would be awesome if we could get something like this implemented in to a basketball game.
