Should 2K just get rid of Shot Zones?

It isn't like they use it anyway. They went the whole season without updating it at all. This should be a concern because it really effects the in-game stats. I think they should just get rid of it and let the tendencies dictate what spots the players shoot on the floor. Sonicmage has shown us what they are like if you actually put them to good use but since 2K themselves don't use it all, it doesn't make sense to keep shot zones in the game.

Hot zones for real life players should be there. And they should be updated.

Hot zones for our MyCareer player while playing online? Horrible idea.

With them possibly getting rid of the 100% green release, hell yeah hot zones need to remain. Shooting will become FAR too much of a dice-roll if they get rid of them without having 100% perfect greens.

Now if they KEEP 100% greens, then yes, get rid of the hot zones.

Isn't that what shooting is to begin with? A dice roll? Just that some shots have a much higher chance of going in.

And that's a major problem. Example: If you take away hot zones and don't have 100% greens, a Shot Creator archetype will be at a severe disadvantage vs a Sharpshooter archetype, because the game is built to reward standing shots more than shots off the dribble. And even then, certain shots off the dribble fall more frequently than others. Without hot zones, things like this become even MORE apparent.

Considering I've been losing more and more faith in their ability to produce fair and balanced shooting across the board, I feel that we need to have one (100% greens) or the other (hot zones). Otherwise shooting will become far too inconsistent.

2k16 had less frequent greens and even that wasnt 100% go in. As a result that game had MUCH more balanced shooting than 2k17 . Concept of making moving shots at better rate than spot up ones is wrong in the first place and sharp with shot creator should be somewhat merged (highest spot up + moving shot rating and moving shot rating is 0.xx multiplyer to standing ones) .

If u can obtain 100% jumpshot success then there is no point for other type of the offense other than jumpshooting all game.

And that's because 2k16 had hotspots to make up for not having 100% green releases. Which is exactly what I said.

2k16 only suffered when it came to moving shots being guaranteed bricks after one of the shooting updates that remained permanent for the rest of the year, and the randomization of you being able to enter a game hot or cold, and you having to suffer (or benefit) from the consequences for the entire game.

Re: Should 2K just get rid of Shot Zones?

#1 Green release should be SCARCE, and absolutely few and far between. No shot is a SURE thing, but for video game purposes, it should stay for the fun of hitting a green, HOWEVER, it should be the rarest of occurrences.

#2 Hot Zones absolutely need to stay. Online AND Offline. If your character is cold from the left wing, and you cross over to the left wing and take a jumpshot, you basically did what the defender wanted you to do... and what YOU knew NOT to do. Ergo, you should hit less of those shots. Especially off-balance ones, because duh, you're off balance.

#3, Shot Creater... is ridiculous cheese in a game. Everyone thinks they should be able to hit any off balance shot, uncontested or not that's just a tough shot to hit and should be as such. Shot creaters are typically mid to lower 45% shooters even with dunks and layups increasing their fg%.
