The Death of Zigzaggers

I'm not sure why 2K continues to let this be a viable option in their games, but zigzagging is back at a 2k15 levels this year. I think it's time for them to finally stamp this out completely, and I know I'm not alone in this matter.

It is absolutely infuriating to smother a ball handler as he runs back-and-forth behind the perimeter, only for him to eventually get you caught in a screen and knock down some bull**** shot.

I'm all about players having freedom of movement, and I think the game feels great in that regard. That being said, this zigzag garbage doesn't resemble basketball in the least bit. There are so many ways you can break down a defender off the dribble without resorting to this. All this zigzagging does is make the game look ugly, and reward players who want to play like idiots.

I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but something has to be done. Maybe if you go back- and-forth on the same plane three times all of your stats drop dramatically, or all of your offensive badges deactivate. Something.

If anyone has anything better as a solution, I'd love to hear it. This has to be addressed. I'm sure the kids would complain, but I think 2K strives to emulate simulation basketball as much as possible. Whether it's Park or Pro-Am, I think the actual game should be rooted in reality. Basketball tactics and strategy should be superior to video game nonsense.

its not the zig zag itself but the automatic green releases afterwards (from deep range even) . Limiting player control with unrealistic delayed movements is not the way to go either.

I hear what you're saying, I really do. But watching guys just run back-and-forth four or five times trying to beat you, or dancing behind screens forever is unrealistic too. I've never in my life seen anything like that at any level of basketball.

Maybe a combination of no greens and nerfed shooting badges. Even though I really feel their shooting percentage in general should take a significant hit when they do that.

It isn't the speed of the players that's the problem. You can usually stay with them. The biggest issue is the success rate of their shots after doing it.

Re: The Death of Zig Zaggers

What needs to go is the sharpshooter archetype as a whole. Dramatic change? Yes, but completely necessary to keep the skill level and balance of the game in check.

Sharpshooter will always be a viable build because it takes little effort or skill and can create a significant portion for the 21 points it takes to win a park game. Combine that with badges literally designed to mitigate the effectiveness of defense and you have the mess were currently in. But 2k doesn't care just give them 50 dollars for a game mode designed for children and have "fun". This game company is malacious. Hell for the amount of money we pay for 2k over time we could easily buy 3-4 DLCS for other games and have significant changes to game play and balancing. All this is a pseudorpg for basketball players. 2k will never change this practice because it brings in so much cash. This game will forever remain in the state it is in and nbalive will never get better because it's reputation is tarnished so deeply with consumers. welcome to the monopolistic world of sports licensing and look and the rewards that have been wrought.

I don't think there's any real solution besides REAL dribble fatigue. Hold users accountable...dribbling back and forth for 15-20 seconds like that should tire the player out and decrease their success of pulling up after that and hitting a 30 footer.....

I'm a person who believes there is usually a solution to most problems. Your idea sounds good, but with tireless scorer and difficult shots, the badges will probably override stamina actually mattering. I dig your vision, though. Crazy that something like that seems far fetched now lol.

Re: The Death of Zig Zaggers

Yeah, even with a defender it is hard to stay with a zig zagger. Then the easy green lights they hit after is absurb.

The idea of causing stamina to drop from dribbling is a good idea. Idk if there is a true fox though. I quit playing MyCareer albeit I did have fun in Pro Am walk on games at times.

Best way to play MyCareer now is to create your guy and player lock on him through MyLeague. Way better for the NBA games and such without all the silly cutscenes and guy they force you to play with.

Re: The Death of Zig Zaggers

Saw a big Youtuber say he doesn't care what 2K patches as long as he can still "left to right".

He said this proudly and publicly like there was nothing wrong with playing that way.
