I don't understand why they would mess with the classic design and randomly add that side column to the purple jersey when the white and yellow designs are solid throughout. It's like they decided that they needed to do something different just for the sake of doing something different.

I hope they don't mess with the Celtics jerseys. The classic white and green scheme is perfectly fine and I loved the black variation they used last year. The gray wasn't bad either.

The black side panel is ridiculous. Would’ve been a 10/10. Apparently they had to add some black on primary uni so the league would allow an alternate black uni.

I can't imagine that's true. Celtics had black and gray alternate jerseys last season and their two standard jerseys have no inkling of black or gray. I hope the league isn't forcing Nike to make unnecessary design choices for the reasons you mention.
