I think they improved from 2k18 even on the my career side. But we'll have to see next week

Nothing grand stood out to me, just a lot of needed minor improvements (Mostly in the time saving department)

That 3 v 3 looks pretty awesome though, and I can definitely see that getting some burn.

I do have some questions though for now and the future

1) I hope in Free Agency, we can see who we are signing with before we join a team. It's more popular than ever and it was career killing when I wanted to sign with the Lakers who had enormous cap space and numerous elite free agents on the market, and I sign up to see that some dude like Brook Lopez is clogging up the cap space

2) Multiple pro-am teams? I am guessing not this year but it would be nice to have that again like in 2k16

3) If JRC is matchmaking does that totally eliminate the park element of it where you find people who are standing around? I could have sworn I saw sideline spectators.

A lot of things to be excited about here. Good read.

My only gripe is the VC gouging. A challenge was 10,000 blocks for 2,000 VC?! I hope this kind of grinding is not their idea of “multiple ways to get VC in the Neighborhood.” Major part of 2K18 was grinding through lengthy, time-consuming challenges to be rewarded below minimum wage. Really hope that’s not what’s to come.

All else sounds exciting and promising as long as 2K can execute.

That was for the entire community to achieve, not your particular player.

All signs point to their being less of a VC grind. As stated above, the 10,000 blocks was a community goal, not a goal for a particular player.

The thing is which concerns me is the wording of the phrase "multiple ways to earn VC in the Neighborhood".

If it's just a little extra VC on the side for activities, that's cool. However, if it turns out to be a case of being underpaid for NBA games then being almost required to run around answering trivia, playing dodgeball, etc. after every game just to make enough VC to advance at a reasonable rate,I may just nope directly out of Career before I waste too much time on it.

This Post is from reddit regarding the article was posted by user yyy2k

These are the two source articles: Brian Mazique/Forbes, Game Informer.
Note - Ben Bishop is a Senior Producer, Jeff Thomas is the VP of Sports Development
Player Creation

  • Bishop: "The goal is to make it so whatever style of play you prefer, you're not going to be at a disadvantage. We want them all to be relatively equal so we spent a lot of time evening those out."
  • In the full game you'll be able to see how attributes max out instead of just a color meter. Bishop: "You won't see it in The Prelude version, but once the main game hits, as you are changing your archetypes there's a button you can hit to bring up a list of what your max will be for each attribute. You can see how the different combinations affect it. Then when you move over to height, weight, and wingspan, it's the same thing. You can see if you go up two inches, this is what attributes are going to change."
Progression/VC

  • You start as a 60 OVR
  • Difficulty modifier returns
  • There have been "changes to VC distribution", no specifics
  • "If you go to practice after every game that gives you the opportunity to move up much more quickly," Bishop says. "One of the things we did in practice, for example, last year you had a set amount of drills and they were tied sometimes to multiple badges. You could do a drill and maybe not get any extra points toward that badge. This year, we have a drill that's one-to-one to every single badge, so if you want to go and target Ankle Breaker or some specific badge, you can be sure that you're going to get points toward that."
  • To combat the complaints and to make the game more consumer friendly, 2K has cut back on the VC demands and made it easier to acquire the in-game currency.
  • A new Progression Bar "will show you how much more your MyPlayer has to accomplish to get to the next level for every badge and every in-story promotion, such as attaining 6th-man status, becoming a starter, etc. Even endorsement deals are included in the progression bar."
  • "Players will receive daily bonuses and even an opportunity to spin a prize wheel at the in-game casino once for the chance to win prizes such as shoes, clothing, equipment or VC for their MyPlayer. Once a player reaches a Level 92, they spin on the elite wheel where you can win large amounts of VC. These players also get 24 hours advanced access to sales and in-game deals on Neighborhood items."
MyCareer

  • "But at least B-Fresh isn't hanging around eating all your food and inviting strangers over. We got the message with her," Bishop says. "It really didn't work last year."
  • New All-Star Game Format has been added and your MyPLAYER can even be the captain who chooses teams.
  • Team Chemistry is managed through your quotes, your dialog with fans as well as with teammates, coaches, and the media. Remember, it was revealed yesterday that if your team chemistry is above 50% you can initiate Team Takeover rather than just an individual boost.
  • Not sure what has changed but there should be some new aspects and details to endorsement negotiation
  • You can add banners in your MyCOURT representing your accomplishments in the Neighborhood
  • New ranking system that separates MyCAREER from Park, Pro-Am, etc.
Customizing Your Player

  • Haircuts are free this year and you can preview before telling the barber to cut your hair. Thomas: "if there was one thing I was I could change from last year's release, it would be those damn haircuts. That shouldn't have been that way."
  • There will be regular clothes drops similar to MyTEAM pack drops
  • Wheels is a new store to buy skateboards, scooters, bikes, etc. All are faster than walking
  • There will be new NBA 2K League clothing in store
  • It's been confirmed multiple times but I know a lot of you love them...so I'll put it here again - mascots are returning.
Neighborhood Design

  • Neighborhood day/night cycles through every 6 hours. To put it simply, 6 hours means you would see one day/night cycle complete.
  • You can change clothes from the menu instead of your MyCourt
  • You can go to practice straight from post-game locker rooms without ever having to step foot in the Neighborhood.
  • Confirmed before, but yes, JRC is a replacement to Pro-Am Walk-On
  • Players are not visible in The Neighborhood if they have been idle for a while (ex. all the people just standing around)
  • There is more variety for where you spawn this year
  • A MyTEAM store has been added where you can create a MyTEAM card for your MyPLAYER to use in the Unlimited mode.
  • Unlimited mode is the only part of MyTEAM you can access directly from The Neighborhood.
  • There could be collective challenges for everyone in the Park. For example, if everyone online gets 10,000 blocked shots in total, everyone might get a VC reward.
Neighborhood Games

  • For Dodgeball details, see this batch of info from Mike Wang's stream yesterday.
  • There is a new daily trivia contest with a one million VC pot, split evenly between any players who answer all 10 questions. "There are six rounds and as they progress the pool dwindles but the VC reward is rising. By the time the pot goes up to its max (1,000,000), the last players remaining, and who gives the right final answers will receive a share of the VC prize."
  • In the new UA Cages trampoline ball, you can jump off trampolines to block, dunk, get rebounds and also bounce the ball off the walls or check your opponent into the walls
  • The Crew returns this year... sort of. It's 3v3 only and you can play against others or CPUs. Your team can customize your uniforms.
Neighborhood Themes/Events

  • There are 25-30 themes/events. There will be 1 or 2 a day.
  • Court Conqueror turns half of the Park into a medieval castle in which you team up with other people to play against A.I. players from NBA teams. Beat all 6 times and you get prizes like VC and exclusive clothing.
