You can theoretically get 99 everything in RTTS (single player/career mode) this year. You earn skill points from in-game actions (want to strike out more batters?...strike out batters, the rating goes up.) and you get to train individual attributes when available (you don't have free choice -- wouldn't be surprised if this changed). But good luck getting ratings to 99, it tiers nasty and the higher the rating the longer it takes to reach the next number value.

But even though is starts with archetypes, you can still create the player you want - you just start with a player who has a defined but undeveloped skillset. It's up to you where you take it from there. Do you.

This is how an offline single player mode should be designed. With the user in mind. If you're offline, you're offline. Why are online restrictions applied?

Simple question. If a user purchases 2K, disconnects their console from the net & fires up MyCareer... why is their character beholden to the same limitations as someone who only plays Park/ProAM/Rec/League?
I haven't played The Show in like 10 years I think. But I like that type of system. Where for you to improve an attribute, you have to do well at that skill. I think 2k is trying to do that this year, but with Badges.

Exactly. I don't play offline. I only bought PlayStation once for just 3 months couple years ago. Before then I never bought an online service. So I should not have the same restrictions as online players.

I don't really want all 99 ratings. But if it is like The Show and difficult to upgrade as you get higher, then I would be all for it. I dont mind grinding as long as I'm grinding to something I feel is worthwhile. I just would hope that I would have a decent skill set to where I can contribute somehow right away

Meh. Thing about "we aren't able to create a true superstar player like LeBron or KD" is that the 2K COMMUNITY CAN'T HANDLE IT. We already saw this in 2K15. 7 ft demigods, everyone copying each other, etc. aka less diversity of builds. It's not perfect, but it's at minimum there's more freedom this year 'cause we can choose our own badges.

I thought I was the only one who immediately picked up on this. As I was going through the pie charts, the attribute cap numbers were beginning to look really familiar. After checking a couple more times, I started noticing exactly which archetypes each pie chart was.

When I caught on to it, I just shook my head, turned off the demo, and haven’t played it since.

It was a disappointement so far. But until we see changes in the launch, I am going to refrain judgement until then. But for me I am not buying game at launch. I usually wait until Black Friday sales. So by time, I start, it may have changed a couple times

I don't get why we can't have "custom pies" which would be as straightfoward to code as allowing the user to input a percentage for each of the four categories. If someone wants to be 100% shooting, or 50/45/5 shooting/defense/finishing, or 25% in all four categories etc. I would say let them. That is unless the developers feel the categories are not balanced, and consequently people could exploit the game by choosing a very unbalanced build. If that is the case they need to realize it is their responsibility to make sure the game is balanced and make the appropriate adjustments

I have heard that there will be more pie selections available in the actual game, but I still think the pre-made pies (all this talk of pies is making me hungry) are too limiting. I do think it is obvious though why caps need to be in place for online modes, as everyone would make all-around superstars and there would be no diversity. For people who are purely offline players I can see the appeal though of uncapped builds.

I will say I like the badge implementation better in this year's game as it allows for better customization towards a particular play style which would be further helped if they allowed for custom pie charts.

That's without badges, height/wingspan/weight, takeover or the speed/strength charts and you can do literally everything you want. You said you didn't care about being a superstar and none of those guys are superstars. They're good in exactly what you yourself say you wanted though and what you claim isn't possible.

We're getting exactly what everyone has claimed to want for years and you guys are STILL complaining. Hilarious.

Not sure if anyone seen this post and correct if I'm wrong, but all the builds you posted can't be built to those specs. This post is VERY flawed. The stats you see for the post Scorer for example aren't possible. Those stats merely show potential for that stat.

Here's the Post Scorer with the same Pie Chart you chose

See how many things there's left blank? So now you have to sacrifice other stats to not get completely exposed. This is system is way worse than 2k19

Now take a look at this second picture

I've made some changes to try and balance it out. Look what happens, you end up being mediocre. That doesn't even mention how 2k doesn't give you great stats until you got 90+ with some builds

Idk what height you made that first build or what his off ball speed is. But that first pic you showed was a bery viable build.

You had 80s in everything post. You had terrie driving dunks, but post scorers shouldnt get CLOSE to a 70,driving.

Then you had all 70s in shooting. You had 70s in rebounding and blocks.

What was the issue with that first pic?

Then you dropped 3s for finishing and upped your post, but still maintained your rebound and defense.

At 7'3 with the first build that guy would be a savage. 70 shooting with 80 post and 70,defense

Come on guys....

My 95 slashing post scorer 6’11 has better stats in every category than this build . I wanted to replicate him but it’s not possible . That is a step backwards but whatever . The trade off at least we can pick our own badges.

Found me a good build on the wing so I’m happy .
