I'll give you a quick rundown.

I think there's 27 dribble styles in the game which all have a few set combinations and timing windows.

You still can do most of what you could last year, but it's a lot more rhythm based so the timing of each flick or the RS or LS is the key.

I'd suggest going into 2KU freestyle and using some stars to see their dribble style, because most of them will be different.

If you have a specific dribble you want to learn just ask.

Thanks man - the one specifically is in Curry's package where he does the crossover to behind the back where he does a bunch of little stutter steps to create space, I've used that for years.

But other than that just generally any decent basic combos that allow a decent speed boost out of would be helpful

Flick RS to off ball hand then quickly hold RT and flick RS away from facing direction.

I did the between the leg version here, but the same applies.

Hesi and behind the backs are good combos for steph.

I'm a pass first PG so it doesn't bother me that much, but mixing right stick with turbo to left stick etc just feels weird.

What are your favourite dribble combos so far and what are the inputs to pull them off?
You dont have to use both, but you can

Thing about 2k is that controls are layered, but you do need to practice and once you get the timing and momentum down it'll click

Just try moves with the left stick, then do the same with the right...and lay off the Spring button too

Check out Scott OG's video on his OG Film Room channel. It'll help you a ton with the left stick stuff.

I know you dont wanna watch videos but do you want to learn?

C'mon guys

The one thing I learned about 2k is everything is a skill. But this the 1st 2k since 2k1 where it's a skill again.

There are no explosive first steps in 2k, it's a real bummer. You can't even change directions quickly in freelance or whatever that 2KU mode is called. I know they have made all those changes to stop the turbo spamming, but I'd much rather them just make defenders a lot quicker and bump up defensive rotations about 300% than make guys Westbrook about as explosive as Big Z.. By far my least favorite part of this game thus far.

Re: I REALLY don't understand dribbling this year

My biggest gripe about dribbling is if there is ever a lag in the input vs what happens on the screen you may end up triggering that awful hesi animation that you can't break or pull away from. Far too often I try to string together some cross-overs and the response on screen isn't quick enough so it ends up being like I pushed the same direction on the right stick 2 or 3 times in a row. Instead of multiple crossovers I get multiple hesi animations in one direction and I can't break from those animations.

Also, say I do perform a move that beats my defender I push turbo instinctively to try to explode past him and that just doesn't work at all. Not sure I even fully understand the point of a turbo button if it's not to make you more explosive/faster. I feel like if you're already pushing off a foot in one direction "turbo" should just make you explode off that foot faster, instead it causes an awkward lag/pause to the point that you're basically slower for a second.. Happens on steals/passing lanes too, can't just get the ball and take off at full speed, basically the complete opposite of how real life mechanics work.

I think of the turbo button as a modifier more than an explosion element for stuff from a standstill. Turbo is more important in the open floor than once you get into halfcourt unless you use it for a modifier.
