Now it´s a bit too easy to beat people, and you don´t have to be creative or have skill to do it, pressing turbo is enough.
2K20 on-ball defense is a mix between 2K18 and 2K19, which is about where it should be. Unlike 2K18, you can't use just any player and turbo for an auto blow-by. And unlike 2K19, mediocre/poor defenders stand out much more like they should and can be abused like they regularly are in real life games.

People had issues with 2K19 defense because it was very close to 2K17 where it allowed poor defenders to bump all day when they really shouldn't be able to do that, and if you were playing against the AI, it also felt like they could immediately read your inputs and you weren't getting to the lane without spamming PnR. It wasn't a fun, nor realistic experience a lot of the time. Constant stonewalling is simply not representative of today's NBA.

So, if the goal is for it to be as realistic as possible, blow-bys should be an important part like they are in the real games. But clearly for that to be balanced, help defense and rotations have got to improve big time.

Agreed. The way on ball d was in 2k19 and 17 was terrible unrealistic. Any time dirk can stay with Russ in the perimeter... There's a huge problem

I really did wish they just add alll this new moves and graphics to 2k19 and just leave it be. but no they had to make this bad visuals to cater online gamers. look so identical as NBA JAM.

Again 2k20 is good i like it a lot, i just think that the Patch thats coming need to address this issues and not all the time online modes fix. they can start with the on and off button for this darn flaming badge and green flash. and adjust a better blow by back like 2k19. Peace
Fast guys in the nba don’t really need moves to blow by defenders. When have you seen westbrook or Schroeder do that those guys usually use 2 dribbles max.

You can’t blow by good defenders on 2k20 easily either.

actually you can especially in fastbreaks. i can even put a clip here and still you wont accept it. try using all the star players against any player and it will pass through what ever sliders you adjust. sometimes CPU even give you a room to pass the weak spot.

like i said 2k19 regarding onball defense to me is the best. the only thing that not realistic in that part is centre being able to keep up with fast guards other than that its fine .

Re: Frustrated With Current Culture of 2K Series

Most NBA 1s, 2s, and 3s can get get by 70% of defenders in the league. The difference is IRL defenses are constantly leaning to help, rotating, looking all over the court.

In 2k, you beat your man most of the time it's a layup. IRL, you beat your man you often run into another defender almost immediately. And IRL if one guy helps others rotate. In 2k, when your big slides over to help, his man just rolls to the hoop and no one rotates to help.

So for me it's not an issue with players beating another off the dribble, that's NBA basketball, it's the lack of smart D that exists IRL to contain that initial blow by

I agree, the game is full of magical badges and things that supposedly effect the way you can play, instead of just having the base attributes which i think the game operates better under, its gone too far and 2k can barely balance all of these things, badges, attributes etc, i think they'd be better off stripping it back down to what it use to be, but like you said, it wont happen because thats what the myplayer scene is all about, and i think the concept for the game ultimately revolves around myplayer, and then myteam.

Re: Frustrated With Current Culture of 2K Series

This is why i'm really supporting what the OP tried to say in this thread here.

The choppy, stuttering, fps dropping gameplay of NBA 2K20 on PS4 Pro is absolute utter BS!

I've sent them videos and all yet they don't even accept what's wrong with the game.

THIS IS GETTING RIDICULUOS!

We're left out as PRO users. I don't believe they will ever solve the problem!

so now its easier to blow by and has bad rotating defenders in 2k20. and this is why i said 2k could have work on how was 19 and made some tweak on it. coz now this feels like 18 all over again. I felt that i work more in 19 getting by the defender than 2k20. Even in other thread this was discuss. i put all my defensive on ball, awareness etc.. for CPU in 100 and yet i can easily blow by them and yes make a layup. i even adjust my slider all shooting starting from 35 and below in HOF just to make it harder to play the game and still i felt its to easy to score because of blowby's. they could put the bump back again or charging fouls or blocking fouls for forcing blowbys to defender.

in this clip in 2k19 how Dame pass Rusell and Paul George rotating to defend for me is well done.

here Dame cannot just blow by so i have to cross him which is more gratifying as i felt like i actually made an escape. and Millssap rotate

and here at least Jokic defend my layup

but in 2k20 if you blow by any player there is no one to rotate as you player is already in layup form after the first defender.

also my other issue with this is that player seems to "Jumpy and light " in there movement and no weight.

sorry for the clips just giving my 2 cents.

and YES i agree to OP and yes 2K20 is still the best just need to be really tweak. and remove some eye sore visuals. Peace
