Yeah they reach their peak start age and they don’t progress anymore, they stay at that overall level mostly and drop a little until their peak end, then they drop off more in overall. So when they reach or approach their peak start age, their potential will drop closer to or to what their current overall is.

Re: Myleague player potential

Peak ages are often too young on default rosters. If he’s closing in on the start of his peak and hasn’t come close to his full potential the game will change his rating.

Re: Myleague player potential

By default, there are many young players that progress way too fast in MyLeague that quickly results in an overly stacked league in a matter of 2-3 seasons.

I think it's a good thing that this can happen honestly. I get the disappointment, but even if a player is playing well, they shouldn't automatically keep climbing up just because they are young. There has to be some players that end up as busts or progress slowly to balance the league out.

Ive never seen a player gain potential without off-season workouts. does that happen?

you know it's a garbage "feature" when I still cant help but worry it's a bug or something unintended. Like, if I had sat him for a year on the bench, would he still be ruined? If I had force-fed him stats, would he still be ruined? hiding fundamental game mechanics is just terrible game design. couldnt he at least have like a personality trait that said "bust" or something? sorry for venting im just so fed up with sports games
Do you happen to have a crappy scout? They do play a factor in telling you a true potential of a guy. In 2k20 I would use all 30 teams in the off season to set up some draft boards and see what picks each team have and make trades between teams. I noticed players potential fluctuates from letter grades based on scouts.
