SWJMJ's Classic Team Roster: 75 teams!

Ps3 users, are you tired of having only season rosters?
Do you have too few classic teams to play with?
Are you a NBA history nut who spends >2 hours a day on basketball reference?
Are you frustrated with 2k's inability to give us enough classic teams?
Do you wish 2k sports would give us a separate game with just classic teams?
Do you wish you had a pc so you could play the UBR?
Have you considered getting one just for that?

If you answered yes to any or all of the following questions: then this roster is for you!

I am looking for suggestions for a full 75 team classic roster
Any team from 1950-2012 will be considered. And provided I don't hit the CAP limit too early, answered.

This roster is a WORK IN PROGRESS, I am putting the thread out there to gauge interest.
NOTE: Due to the inability to hex edit on Ps3, I have no control over the courts or jerseys, and there will be CAPs and CATs, however, they will play correctly with their tendencies, ratings, accessories, and rotations

Teams so far: (not done, will note as they are)

Re: SWJMJ's Classic Team Roster: 75 teams!

OH YES!!!!
SWJMJ, why don't you put teams with scoring champ or at least great scorers on? Would be an insane season with those guns at their peak!

Couple of suggestions:

1983-84 Utah Jazz (Adrian Dantley 30.6 ppg)
1984-85 New York (Bernard King 32.9 ppg)
1981-82 San Antonio (George Gervin 32.3 ppg)
1980-81 Denver Nuggets (David Thompson 25.5 ppg + Alex English 23.8 ppg)
1961-62 Philadelphia (Wilt Chamberlain 50.4 ppg!!)
1976-77 New Orleans (Pistol Pete Maravich 31.1 ppg)
1978-79 Washington Bullets (Elvin Hayes 21.8 ppg, Dandrige, Unseld)
2002-03 Orlando Magic (McGrady 32.1 ppg)
2005-06 Washington Wizards (Arenas 29.3 ppg)
1979-80 San Diego Clippers (World Free 30.2 ppg)
1974-75 Buffalo Braves (McAdoo 34.5 ppg)
1972-73 Kansas City (Archibald 34.0 ppg and 11 ast)
1983-84 Dallas Mavs (Aguirre 29.5 ppg + Blackman 22.4 ppg)
1988-89 Seattle Supersonics (Dale Ellis 27.5 + McDaniel 20.5 ppg)
1974-75 Golden State (Rick Barry 30.6 ppg )
1969-70 Phoenix Suns (Connie Hawkins 24.6 ppg)
1972-73 Seattle Supersonics (Spencer Haywood 29.2 ppg)

Yo man...I wish you luck on this. We attempted a project similar for PS3 last year and the best we could do was 65 teams. And that was with 14 more current teams.

Chances are good you are going to run out of CAP space. Not to mention that there are exporting team limitations this year. Not trying to be a downer, just wanted to prepare you before you get in too deep...

Good luck!

This sounds awesome and i really like your introduction to your thread. Very cool. Well i have a few teams to suggest. 2011 mavericks. 2008 celtics. 2009 or 2010 lakers. 2007 spurs. 2005 or 2006 pistons. 94 knicks. 94 rockets. 89 pistons. 87 lakers. 86 celtics. 70 knicks. And if you don't have enough room, if you don't mind i would suggest deleting some of the much older teams to make room for the more modern teams that more people would want to play with. These teams i have suggested are all simply and plainly good teams and they have all won nba championships. I personally feel that if you use to much space with very very old teams that many won't play with or just ok teams with big scorers, you may run out of space for teams that will appeal to a modern and current as well as old school audience. These are just great winning well rounded solid teams that will appeal to most rather than some of half. Besides i would really love to play with these teams all in one season. That would be insane. I really hope everything works out with this project because it has certainly gotten my interest and i would so look forward to such a project. Makes me smile.. Well the roster plans and that introduction of yours. cool.

Thanks Sellaz! I was always a big fan of your work on 2k12, especially your CAPs. I don't see the CAP limit as the stopping point persay, just as another obstacle. I plan, if I do hit the limit, to rerate, height, weight, position, and sig the current players who look the most similar to the player I need and then add them to the end of the bench w/ 0min assigned in the rotation. The math says I should be able to have CAPs and CFs for the 1st 8-9 of most teams. Thanks for the feedback though, it is always appreciated!

Sounds like you have a plan and are approaching it with the right attitude. You have quite a good team list there too.

One more thing...if it were me I would go with the 84 Knicks instead of 85. The 85 team had a horrible record and King only played 55 games. They were minus Cartwright and Truck Robinson too. Just a thought...
