Coach Tendencies - Run Plays (2K13)

Had a question that deals with BOTH slider and roster editing...

I'm seeing conflicting ideas on this, and in creating sliders I think this has some kind of bearing on what guys are seeing...

In the coaching profiles (which I realize are connected with the individual roster sets) I see some have this at 100 and some at 0...

What should be done with this?

I have mine set at 100 - so the cpu will run the plays. But I noticed in Nogster's roster, he has this at 0.

Any opinions on this? I've never seen a game play as touchy as 2K13 with regard to TENDENCIES.

ROSTER EDITORS: you might want to chime in with your perspectives... Thanks!

Run plays is very tricky not only this year but almost every year.

After seeing what Van Wolf did last year and seeing how much it improved the very aspect of how team ran plays it was clear that in order to have proper and the most satisfying results was to have his edits put in to make plays ran almost perfect.

The problem with any slider set or anything with value that affect game engine stuff is knowing where the values take affect to the animations the programming has in place.

Say for ex: The value 23

If its a value of 23 of say shooting that would hopefully mean the player would make 235 of hs shots now when using that player.

But i 2k nothing starts at 0 or player attributes they start at 25-99 so we have our work cut out for us trying to figure these things out.

Each year is different though my man VTCRB would disagree.

Another example his demo roster that i played had two team roughly being edited absed off of what worked last year.

It played GREAT problem wa sit played like NBA 2K12 with his edits.

It didnt feel like NBA 2k13 does out of the box. meaning it didnt feel like it had the improvements that 2k13 actually has to its game play etc.

So its really a matter of what sits where?

To answer your question i have run plays at 50

Well with my testing, with run plays set at 0, I see the CPU running a play every single time

Through testing, I know that having Call Plays set to 0 makes the CPU call plays within 3-4 seconds of getting a defensive rebound and the CPU usually only runs when the opportunity is there where having it at 100 gives them 7-8 seconds and the CPU presses on the break to a fault. I have not tested on any other ratings between those two.

Re: Coach Tendencies - Run Plays (2K13)

Its not that the "run plays" slider may be backwards this season.
            It IS backwards.
            Great find by Slimm
All teams run plays coach profile slider should be 0 if you want to negate the cpu fastbreak insanity that it does every def reb.

The game plays like a beauty now that this issue is done for.

I cannot stress enough how important this information is for cpu gameplay.

            It changes the game!!

I have always had run plays at 100 the last few years because the cpu utilizes more plays from its playbook.

Well this season. It is 100% true that the slider is backwards.

            Go and test it yourself.
            You can verify this 100%.
simply play a game with play vision on. Force a cpu miss and watch as the play icon appears only seconds into the shot clock with "run plays" at 0. than appearing toward the end of the shot clock if at all with run plays at 100.
The CPU gameplay is SO much better with this fix.

Again. I cannot stress this find enough.

This is crazy! What a huge difference! I turned spurs to 15 run plays and they are running sets every time down. Nice find!

I put this at zero and had the BEST flow of a game I've played yet... Can confirm this is backwards... Game plays totally different. Thanks for the feedback!

Gameplay-wise, this is the best 2k I've ever played. I'm telling you guys...once you get the rosters tweaked the way you like them, it's beautiful. Vann, when you get the playbooks done? My productivity in all other areas of life is going to decrease by about 3654165435441%.

I don't even want to think about what's gonna happen if Hawk23 releases the Ultimate Base Roster again.

With your sliders I also had it at 0 and it seemed play calling was faster and it didn't run a play every time, but majority of the times.

Re: Coach Tendencies - Run Plays (2K13)

So when I edit my teams ... should I put them all to 0? Or reverse them? Say a team has their Run Plays tendency at 75, do I put it at 25 (since it's backwards).

I was thinking the same. Should everybody be at 0? Some teams don't run Plays every trip down.

im going with this, not every team run plays all the time

I put them all at zero for my roster set... I would also suggest that there are MANY OTHER tendencies that will make teams react differently. But the issue of the unstoppable fast break is remedied with all of them at 0, and I've had my best games yet. But to each their own...
