The Monta Ellis Rating issue

Numbers don't mean anything until we see what everyone does, but his overal SG ranking was 11. My knee jerk reaction was to balk at that, but then I checked it out. Let me know what you guys think. Here is the list I made of players that I think are better, or debatably better at the position. For benefit of the doubt, I listed but excluded players who log a lot of minutes at SG, but could be considered small forwards because of shifting around.

Kobe Bryant
Dwayne Wade
Michael Redd
Ray Allen
Vince Carter
Manu
Richard Hamilton
Ben Gordon
Kevin Martin
Jamal Crawford-debatable, concede if you disagree
Mo Williams-debatable, concede if you disagree
Raja Bell-debatable, concede
Brandon Roy-debatable, concede

Iverson* plays PG
Arenas* plays PG

Guys who also play Forward

Iguodala
Paul Pierce
Tracy McGrady
Joe Johnson

The thing we don't know is how they handle ties, like Ellis is rated 84 overall. How many other SGs are rated 84 as well? Or how many are rated 87?

I think it's debatable that Peja, Terry/Harris (I forget which one plays SG, pretty sure it's Jet) and J-Rich would be considered higher.

But all of those guys log enough minutes at SF and PG that I'd give 2k the benefit of the doubt in putting them at those positions. I'd take Terry over Ellis hands down. Jury is still out on Harris. Love his speed, hate that jumper, lol. Peja has been so beat up over the past couple of years, who knows what he'll bring?

Oh and because of the surrounding lineup I'm 90% sure Joe Johnson will be listed at SG. Acie Law IV at PG, Josh Smith at SF, Marvin Williams at PF, Al Horford at C. And he was recognized as a SG last year.

Yup, that's a good point. So that makes ten exactly, if you take out the debatables on my list.

I never worry about ratings in NBA games, because I know I'm going to redo the entire league myself anyway. Its a labor of love.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
