when you use the right stick left or right on defense to try to beat your opponent to the spot, why does it sometimes not respond and goes for a steal, am i doing it wrong? do you have to push it hard or tap?

I dont know, I think its the direction you do it.

It isn't left of right ABSOLUTE. It is left or right of the offensive player. Camera relative, diagonals included
