From the 2k forum, a guy is already downloading the game from gamersgate website. So maybe that is an option for those who can't wait.

Googling for gamersgate made it seem like they often get patches late for their particular version etc, kinda keeps me from buying it. Also, they want 27€ -.-

I can't beleive it's out in Australia before North America! Is that what I moved to North America for??!?!!?!! LOL

It's been there for a couple of days, but no price so far. Some guy from valve on the steam forums also said that a prepurchase was going to start soon, but that was 6 days ago:
