Re: Commentary vs. On-court action

I actually enjoy 2K's commentary. It's been years since 2K had such a good commentary. 2K10 has taken it to new heights...

I also remember sometime playing games in association at start Clark would be talking about a player being injured and missing the game and he was right there in the starting line-up. This could be my fault as sometime when simming i would disable injuries and anyone with previous injuries would be healed in a day and not be out the "X" amout of days/weeks that the "Trainer" said they would be.
Same sentiments here. I keep on getting the "injured" commentary to James Harden when in fact he's starting in my OKC lineup. I think there should be better lines like Jeff Van Gundy while talking about anything else trivial pauses and mentions something about the game being played like when someone scores and then goes back to what he's been talking about.

I wouldn't put it so harshly, but I sorta agree.

Yes, I get it. Howard was deeply influenced by his time in Beijing. Stop mentioning it all the freaking time.

Some of the lines just don't fit into the context either. Like making a big deal about missing a wide open shot, or doing a simple post move with a big man. It gets cheesy as hell.

Re: Commentary vs. On-court action

Imo it's another case of some being spoiled by what they're doing. I'd argue commentary in the game is easily top 2-3 the past couple years in a sports game, if not the best. Last year they added interruptible commentary for big plays, the mode-specific commentary of Association AND NBA Today, etc. It wasn't as if there was a new word here or there, the commentary was specific to whatever was going on in the person's Association mode or what was going on in the real-life NBA with NBA Today (which was also incorporated into their Association mode). There's no other game touching what they're doing from a commentary standpoint - other than their own MLB2K that is.

Couldn't agree more with this. Their dynamic commentary is the best in sports. Look at the other sports games. NFL, NHL, MLB, Soccer, Boxing, you name it. None of them incorporate what's going on in you're association or career. 2K did that last year, something I thought was impossible. Do some of the lines get repetitive? Sure they do. But when you play any game -- especially a sports game -- there's so much variety that can be added.

Some of us here play this game for countless hours (I know I do). So getting some of the same lines is par for the course. But for the announces to recognize that my team struggled last game or that so-and-so has been hot lately is astounding. Can't believe anyone would take shots at the announcing.

Now if you don't like the announcers themselves, I can see that. I wish 2k could get the announcing crew Elite has. Or TNT's crew. Or bring back Kenny Smith. Never was a big fan of Clark Kellogg, especially because he's a college commentator.

Re: Commentary vs. On-court action

I find it difficult to gripe about the 2k commentary seeing as the other sports games I play, Madden and Fifa are severly lacking in that department. It's not possible to make it perfect, I think what they have is definitely up there with the best I've heard.

Re: Commentary vs. On-court action

I'd say 2k10 and ill assume 2k11 is the best ˆ have ever experienced in a game. To say that the commentary stinks is not accurate to say the least imho
