Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Year 2 with my Bulls and I'm in a very strong battle with #4 seeded NY in the 2nd round. I'm the #1 seed BTW. Right now going into game 5 tied at 2-2. I started my association way before the Carmelo trade so this is a Carmelo-less Knicks as he ended up signing with NJ in the summer. This is the Knicks lineup:

Raymond Felton
Kelenna Azubuike
Danilo Gallinari
Amare Stoudemire
Jonas Valaciunas

Toney Douglas
Alonzo Gee
Lacedarious Dunn
Matt Barnes
Boris Diaw
Tyler Hansbrough
Ronny Turiaf
Timofey Mozgov

Valaciunas is a beast for NY -
Game 1 - 13 PTS / 13 REB / 3 AST / 3 STL / 5 BLK (WIN)
Game 2 - 22 PTS / 10 REB
Game 3 - 18 PTS / 13 REB / 4 BLK (WIN)
Game 4 - 12 PTS / 13 REB

He's giving me a lot of issues and Gallinari has lit me up twice this series as well. Once for 31 and once for 26. Game 5 should be good!

NY looks pretty steady with their lineup, picking up Jonas and addressing what many feel currently is their biggest need. Their bench looks pretty good too, I like Barnes/Diaw/Hansborough off the pine for em. Should definitely be a dog fight in what is now a best of 3. Jonas is just a glass eater, wow.

I personally love playing the game, so I'd go with playing with sliders and play 10 min - 12 min quarters. All depends on philosophy. That's what's so great about this game. I could have one association where I play every game every minute, another where I sim a few weeks at a time and then comb over my teams progression, stats, needs, etc and work it as a GM.
True, i started one where i was playing a full game.. hoopscasting another and then simming the 3rd game. but hoopscast bugs me sometimes, way to many fouls called ive noticed, and free throws, but then again if u noticed some teams even on sim get alot of free throws. Does the sim even follow what u ask for in the coach profile ? or does it really only follow it when u play a game.. Like when u move the slider up to look for the PF-C types to shoot more, etc. or take more 3's.

That's what I would do only because to me it makes your offense stronger and you can find a defensive point for Thornton.
I appreciate your response. I completely agree with you on trading Thornton. I love him and he's now a "4 star" in the trading circuit. I'm also attached to him because of that double 6 man thing I have going on with him and Young. Plus, I've always tried to trade for him or sign him since I watched a Hornets game last year. I'm not sure I'd be able to part with him. But I absolutely need a better perimeter defender and/or someone that can bottle up the elite point guards, because I'm getting killed by the "good" point guards. I just don't know who I would trade.

One other steal I forgot to mention was J. Voscausllufleuleulas (you can guess who I"m talking about, and also guess that I can't spell his name, I think his first name is Jonas, maybe?) I have no idea how, but when I saw him still available 9 picks into the 2nd round. I traded with a team for the 10th pick and shipped them a future 2nd rounder straight up. He's apparently a 5 star player, based solely on his potential obviously, as he's only rated a 50-something. I sent him to the D-league to get some experience. But it's definitely an option to trade him for a better perimeter defender or 2 way point guard. Thank you for your suggestion.

Your team makes a lot of sense, your bench is more consolidated with guys who plays a couple positions each, which is good. Depth across the board is always good though, and youlll notice it when the injury bugs hit (I think it's inevitable to lose guys for a few weeks with little dinky injuries).

With that said, even if this team made the playoffs, I dont think the Maloofs would care either way in regards to keeping em in Sac. And I'd even venture to say they wouldnt let their cap get as high as it got as they are trying to pinch pennies with their investments not doing so hot for them.
It's funny you mention that. I couldn't agree more. The Maloofs absolutely wouldn't care either way in real life. For the sake of a good storyline, I'm just trying to win enough games to change their collective mind and keep the team in Sac-Town. But I do know what you're saying. We went into the off-season with about $32 million in cap space. So I'm sure if they had it their way we'd fill the roster with 480k minimum salary players and call it good. Fortunately though, as GM, I overruled them, haha.

It's cool that you noticed one of the things I was going for. Which is players that can play multiple positions. In hockey I'm a huge fan of 2 way players, as well as the gritty/grinder type players that do the dirty work and get things done. How it translates to the NBA are guys like Kevin Love or Glen Davis that don't have a ton of athletic ability, but make up for it with a motor that never stops going. I think with this team I have the best of both worlds. I have 2 small forwards that can rebound at a great rate for their position, and my bigs can crash the offensive glass and get a lot of second chance points. Being able to put Reke, Thornton, R. Williams, D. Williams, Young, Hickson, and Hawes at multiple positions is huge for me and helps me create favorable mismatches throughout the course of a game.

Im in the 2nd season in my Kings Association and our teams look kind of the same. I decided to spend cap space to get Thaddeus Young and DeAndre Jordan too. I only had the 9th pick though so I took Jimmer because I felt we needed more of a spot up shooter at point since Evans dominates the ball so much. I also only signed 2 free agents so I will still have about 20 million to spend next offseason. I am going to try to get either CP3 or Kevin Love who is now unhappy playing for the Celtics.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Is anyone doing a Detroit Pistons one? I didn't do it because I know how to be good using their players (Stuckey, Prince, Hamilton, and Wallace. I can beat teams online with just those four), but I might consider doing them when 2k12 comes out (assuming I do Kings for the remainder of 2k11).

I don't like doing teams other people are doing. Call me stupid, but I like uniqueness. Although I'm glad Tigers is doing a Kings one so I can gauge how I'm doing.

Fun game, it's a shame I injured their two PGs, Collison and Ford. But I still managed to get a win regardless. I mean, I shot 32 times from beyond the arc, and scored 16 of them. Wow. Great game. Check it out in my signature!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Just came back from down 3-1 in the NBA Finals to beat the Kings to win my first ring in my "New Jordan" Association. Brad Potter (Jordan clone 3 years in) led us to the title, but we wouldn't have won it without Tyrus Thomas, Michael Gilchrist, Amir Williams, and even Delonte West.

Lots of things to take care of... Potter, Gilchrist, Williams, DeShaun Thomas, and my backup PG Korey Brown are all still under their rookie deals and I picked all of them up immediately. Most likely letting Thomas go in Free Agency. Larry Sanders refuses to sign with me, West is a free agent as well as many others, including Paul Pierce.

Got some things to take care of this off-season.
