OK, so you're saying that PG's could be undervalued in touches because usage % doesn't give credit to anybody who passes instead of shoots. I wonder if the usage % formula was modified to account for assists, if that would help. I'll have to try that out.

Also, another way to describe usage % is that its an estimate of how often a play is called for that player. That's what I originally thought the touches tendency was supposed to represent, do we even know for sure?

Since we on the subject of tendancies, any of you guys found out a way to make fast breaks more realistic yet ? As it stands now the cpu gets back on defense way too fast.

Usage % is not how often a play is called for a player. It's what % of total team "ball uses" the player makes. A ball use is a shot or a turnover.

In played games touches does alter how many times a play is called for a player. As I've watched about half a dozen games today when Rose's touch rating is turned to 80 with Boozer's at 60 and Jordan's at 99, many plays are run for Jordan, and plays are run for Rose - he passes to Jordan, runs off a few screens, receives the ball.

I'm not a Czar so I can't recognize the plays without play art and names. Those don't show when it's CPU v CPU.

The setting indicates it influences the number of plays called for a player.

It also affects sim results.

At default, with Boozer's touch at 86, Jordan's at 99 and Rose's in the mid 40's, almost every play is run for Jordan or Boozer.

Not sure if it effects how often a player shoots vs passes once they have the ball. But when his touches is set to 80 Rose passes a lot less often (again, maybe because the plays are called for him more often.)

To reiterate, this seems like something that should be set at the team or coach level, like rotation. Imagine having to re-edit each player's touches when you trade a player. Why? Imagine if you're the Heat with LeBron, Wade and Bosh. Maybe Bosh's touches is set to 70 because there's Wade and LeBron on the team. But then you trade Wade. Now Bosh has to take more of the scoring load so his touches should be turned higher.

It's not just touches, its also the default "simulation" sliders which have look for post players at 80, which, combined with post players with high touches, pretty much makes them the only offensive option.

I've seen the exact same thing with Hawes and Boozer as well btw.

I agree, but its our best estimate statistically at this point. That's why I keep using the word "estimate".
