With the contact animations that were present in this game before, players were able to get contact, impeding a ballhandler's progress to get by them even when visually the ballhandler had him beat. Some say that's sim, but it's really not. True, it makes getting to the paint harder which in turn makes the game more challenging thus eliminating boredom that can occur when things become to easy, but it wasn't a realistic eliminate of the game. You can't say "don't play videogames, play basketball" but happily allow "video game" elements to be in place all for the sake of a challenge.

Basketball is a game of matchups. What gamers should do is continue to penetrate at will and see how the CPU adjusts first. Play against good defensive teams such as the Lakers or Celtics. If you're able to take a Derrick Rose and torch them repeatedly without any counter attacks from the CPU's defense, then yeah this will turn out to be a huge flaw in the "updated" game design. But if the CPU is able to adjust intelligently, double the ball, switch to a zone, send help sooner, or assign a better onball defender, then as a sim gamer, that should be what you've all been wanting since the start of the console generation. To me, that's SIM gaming.
True, but Derozan shouldn't be able to dribble pass Wade for a Dunk whenever he wants to in which I am able to perform after this Roster Update. On a side note, I raised the Help Defense Strength from 50 to 100 to combat this issue and I think it's helping.

Well, the problem is, those of us who enjoyed Sim game style, have no alternatives. This is what game styles are for. They should have left the game alone. Those who didn't like Sim could try other game styles they found more pleasing. The satisfaction with how the game played on Sim far outweighed the complaints. Things like players jumping to high for rebounds are acceptable changes, but not changes to the core mechanics which can be slider adjusted to each players liking. If I feel collisions are too low now what can I do? They are maxed out already.

People are also forgetting that there are 2 NBA's represented in this game, current day and old school. And in the old school NBA, the game was A LOT more physical. The collisions as they were out the box captured this physicality well. Not so any more, and the old school teams do not feel as authentic to me as a result.

I'm still seeing a TON of contact with the game. I play on a lower gamespeed, so maybe the slower pace helps to create more contact.

What I'm also loving is that the contact "fits" into the situation. If I have a clear path to the basket and help doesn't show up in time, I'm not being pulled into some canimated sequence where I'm doing some acrobatic layup to make the shot more difficult and "punishing" me taking advantage of an easy scoring opportunity.

Like I said in my previous post, take a quick PG and try to dominate with him the entire game on Sim/All-Star for instance. Play against one of the top echelon teams in the league. See if you're able to have your way with them. If not, then you know the game is not broken. If you are, then maybe it is something that 2K needs to look at to fix.

Try it at 0 and tell me what you see.

This is exactly right, and how it should be represented in a basketball sim game.

This is exact right as well. Unfortunately, the help defense in 2K11 (even though improved over previous iterations) is still lacking quite a bit. This why I think people are complaining that it is easy to drive into the paint and dunk. Some complaints are misguided though. You should be able to drive past your man (even if he's a great onball defender) almost at will. What you should not be able to do at will is drive all the way to the basket. You should be met by help defense and in most cases, that help defense should be enough to force you to kick the ball out or dribble back out.

Adding onball defensive strength to the point where it is basically cheating the law of physics (as it is right now with the incredible lateral movement by the defense) is a terrible solution. The only solution is to improve the help defense logic.

Just curious, does the third roster update have fixed touches? Or would I have to redo all the touches again?
